Wow. You guys are racists.

Let see:

1. I am NOT white.

2. I am a first generation LEGAL immigrant.

3. I am and MILLIONS of LEGAL immigrants like myself are supporting AZ law (anti ILLEGAL immigrant) and this new "anti anchor babies..aka..stop ILLEGALS pop out babies after babies".

4. Polls after polls after polls are showing that the majority of ALL Americans (all races and all walk of life) are sick and tired of ILLEGAL immigrants and are demanding the governments (Fed/State/Local) to do something about it.

Tell me again, how am I being a racist? Just what I thought. Thanks for playing and trolling. Try harder next time.

Almost no other country on earth confers automatic citizenship to babies of illegal immigrants and travelers on temporary visas. If you or your spouse were pregnant and on vacation in Japan, Austria or Mexico and dropped the kid there would you expect Japanese, Austrian or Mexican citizenship for it? Of course not. Its time to close that loophole.

Children born in the USA should carry the citizenship of their parents. Should the parents be LEGAL immigrants, the child may be granted citizenship if the parents wish, but they should have to apply for it before the child's first birthday...otherwise, the child gets a green card like their parents.

Will this ever happen? Fuck no. Too many bleeding-hearts in this country. "Oh, won't someone please think of the child?"

The constitution is a living document. Let them fight it out in the courts.

It makes no sense to deport the mother and not the child. This is just stupidity.

A ground-swell movement to properly and legally modify the 14th amendment to eliminate the "anchor baby" problem? Sounds f'n excellent!

Where can I sign up?

I dunno if you noticed or not, but the constitution does not seem to be very popular. At least not since the Nixon days. It gets completely reinterpreted on a regular basis.

I absolutely hate the anchor baby loophole, and seeing the illegal immigrants take advantage of our system (ever been to the birth and delivery section of a hospital in southern Texas? 99% illegals)... HOWEVER, the answer to this problem is not to create a law that tries to pull an end-run around the constitution. The correct answer is to close the damn border so the illegals can't get in the country to drop the anchor to begin with. Done. No legislation changes needed.

I don't approve of Arizona's original law where officers are required to ask for papers, but I do support this.

At least one of the parents must be a legal citizen in order for the baby to be a citizen.

So you're not okay with a law that doesn't violate the Constitution, but you are okay with a law that does. ooooooookkkaaaaayyyyy....

In the case of the first law, it prevents easy opportunities for racial profiling and discrimination. While there are many illegal aliens in Arizona, there are many legal aliens or citizens of Hispanic origin. The police should not be harassing people who are here legally in the hopes they'll find the occasional illegal.

In the case of the second, it should not be permissible for two illegal aliens to enter the country, have a baby, then collect government assistance to care for that child. The Constitution should be amended to prevent that since it's current language allows for abuse.

Start alienating children born and raised culturally american and see what happens 30 years from now. The riots in France will seem like nothing. The answer is NOT to create a 2nd class citizenry that resent their home it's to STOP the problem before it even starts. Seal the border.

so what would happen if this bill does pass, it goes to the supreme's gets over turned and AZ says "fuck you its our law and we are going to enforce it? "

Figures these people wish to ignore our Constitution. So much for following the law once again. Just because you don't agree with the law doesn't give you freedom to ignore it.

What's next, when some judge overrules this for being un-Consitutional, the same group will be posting about those "liberal, activist" judges for their actually upholding the law. And the rest of us will roll our eyes once more.

I would completely support amending the Constitution to resolve the "anchor baby" issue, given that these illegals are clearly abusing the system for their own benefit to the detriment of us all.

So what is the bill's number? It's not 1070, and the article only talks in broad strokes. Journalism is terrible these days - especially when covering legislation. All this discussion about nothing more than innuendo. It's amazing so many people on both sides know exactly what the Constitutional issues may be without even reading the thing. Perhaps the MSM journalists are delivering precisely the quality of news the public deserves...

Like it or not, this law is unconstitutional. You should instead be pushing to ammend the Constitution.

BTW, wasn't Michael Steele bashing Kagan for saying the Constitution was imperfect? So it's perfect except when Republicans don't like a part of it?

I stick by my previous statement.

Oh, and profiling is not a violation of the constitution. I know your types like to add racial on the front end to assuage your guilty feelings.
