Between this thread and a couple others here, I have come to the conclusion the US is going to be needing a lot more lawyers.
Something like a ratio of say 5 lawyers to every 1 non lawyer

What seems odd to you about what I said? There are lots of things that are offensive that don't fit into the current legal definition (or lack thereof) of obscenity. For example, "You are stupid." (Not you in particular; it's a hypothetical example.)

You just seem to be trying to start an argument about something I haven't said thats all.
I'm not really trying to start an argument at all. I got the impression you were claiming that the Arizona bill is somehow comparable in scope and effect to the rules governing US mail. If that's not what you meant then I apologize, but it wasn't a stretch to think that's what you meant to imply.

I was just light-heartedly replying to brainhulks post about trolling each other by post.

Well, on a positive note, Hal and Alky would be in prison for life under this law.

I'd probably be there too with my rice cooker and tattoo posts though. :p

And obscene isn't always offensive...
True, but I suspect that as a legal standard it might be decided that it is - at least potentially so, which is all it will take to trigger an offense in the state of nAZi.

Since the Arizona State Legislature solved the budget crisis, achieved 100% employment and filled all the pot-holes, they needed a new challenge.

I say Godspeed.
