This story was posted in another thread, but after reading about it, this is definitely worthy of it's own thread. I'm going to follow this story closely as I'm really curious as to how the investigation (if there is one) is going to turn out.

This simply can't happen again, yet it will. Probably a few times this week.

Worst part is, this was all over 'pot' in the name of the 'war on drugs'.

Go ahead and read it. It's sickening. The police did soooo many things wrong and there were so many ways this could have been prevented. It's clear they are now trying to cover it up.

EDIT: better article

Wow, such a sad story. The war on drugs is a horrible thing. I hope it ends soon.

If you think that it being over pot as part of the WoD is the "worst part of it", you're plain stupid. An innocent man was gunned down in his own house. That's the worst part of it. Who cares if it was over pot or any other kind of drug?

My problem is with the whole "no knock" stuff. Everyone has a right to defend themselves and their family in their home. These no knock raids are a horrible miscarriage of justice, since innocent people will pay with their lives because they rightfully and legally defended their family and home.

No knock home invasions are a national phenomena. The United States is a police state and is in descent towards despotism.

My first instinct is to be on the side of the police, but it seems like there are endless stories of cops acting like Barney Fife with an assault rifle. This militarization of law enforcement with more and more SWAT teams that serve no purpose is particularly bothersome.

Pima County is where liberals are trying to create the new state of Baja Arizona; I guess this is a foretaste of how they would treat their future citizens should that ever come to pass.

I can agree with your perspective on what was worse. I was trying to say it's obviously a miscarriage of justice that he was killed, and it's made worse by the fact it was over pot. If pot was legal, this wouldn't have happened.

Kept the paramedics away for an hour? Let's go for first degree murder, and hang the lot of them. Fucking bullshit.

One lies, and every single one of them swears to it. The cops can go down for murder, and try everyone connected as accessories, or at least obstruction.

That was another thing that stood out to me. I can't think of any reason why they'd need to keep the paramedics away for an hour after pumping 60 rounds into him --- even if he were actually guilty of something. Those in command of that operation need to be in jail.

Yet another avoidable tragedy that's a direct consequence of this country's utterly misguided war on drugs in general and marijuana in particular. Really, it sickens me.

I'm sure they will punish the cops with some administrative leave. Instead of first degree murder like they deserve.
I think at this point police have shown they can't handle the responsibility of no-knock raids and shouldn't be allowed to do them anymore.

Legalize, regulate, tax, and sensibly enforce. Empty the prisons, end the drug gangs, reduce the deficit, use the vast savings to treat addiction and to educate. But in our stupidocracy, catering to the bottom 25% of the IQ distribution dictates that the war on evil weed must continue.

this is stupid in so many ways.
If you know that someone is a violent criminal, okay, do it.
But if you suspect someone is a weed farmer, just block all exits and knock. It's not like he can make all the traces of weed disappear in seconds.

Charge them all (Police and judge) with Murder and have a trial.

Also put them all in jail with no bail since this is a murder trial, just like they did OJ.

Have the FBI do the investigation.

Can you imagine what legalization would have done in the early 80's just before the crack epidemic? The American landscape would be a completely different place without the explosions of gang warfare funded by crack profits.

Gary Johnson or Ron Paul would help put an end to this nonsense if elected.

The best they could do is line the JoD with anti-prohibition staff, it's seriously doubtful that either could completely end the WoD™. It isn't simply "ok, no more funding", the entire outlook from criminal to health issue needs to be changed in the general populace. The demonization of drugs and people trapped in their abuse needs to change.
