building an Aria SFF A64 3000, should i use stock HSF, or buy another.

please recommend a good one

thanks in advance

Any issues transporting your Aria with the big Zalman heatsinks (either 7000 or 6500 series) installed? Zalman warns about the weight and moving the PC. I plan to travel with mine for gaming and such. Currently running Athlon XP+ proc in it. Comments appreciated.

Zalman 7000 AlCus work fine, no problems. Remember that in an Aria, the HSF will be facing up from the motherboard, rather than hanging sideways in a normal ATX case - so weight will not be an issue as long as you hold the computer upright. 🙂

Looking into getting an Aria myself, but I have a few questions that maybe you guys could help with:

1) Will this work with *ANY* MicroATX motherboard that meets the dimensions?
2) Is the power supply adequate to run something like a Radeon 9800 XT?
3) Would you all recommend this as a good LANboy case with the stock heatsink and stuff?

Thanks in advance, folks!

1) Yes, it should! It's slightly larger than 9.6"x9.6" so I'd imagine it'd fit all mATX boards.
2) The PSU is more than adequate - it's a 300W Active PFC (Power Factor Correction) PSU made by Antec, so you know it delivers above and beyond its rating. It also works with universal voltages, meaning it can take anywhere from 100-240V input AC.
3) Eh? The Aria would certainly make a good LAN box, but make sure you use a different heatsink, the Zalman 7000 AlCu is pretty much the best that'll fit - you only have 65mm of clearance because of the PSU being in the way... Zalman works well and is silent.

Thx af!

There's pleny of power for the 9800 XT, I and many others are running 6800GTs without problems. If you stuff all 3 PCI slots you might run into some trouble I suppose.

Anyone know whether the standard heatsink for Socket A processor will be too tall also? Considering turning my old AXP 2200 rig into my LAN rig, and just putting the 9800 in when it goes... Thanks in advance
