Got inspired by this thread Link and got out the dremel. Before the mod the case temps were in the mid 30's and the CPU was running about 50 celsius idle, the wires were a mess and I wasn't really happy with the case.

I installed a Speeze heat sink, two Thermaltake smart case fans (one in the side of the case and one on the hs) cleaned up the wiring and life is much better. ;) I have the case fan running at about 1500rpm and the hsf running at about 2200rpm. It's not silent but pretty close. Case temp is now at 24 and CPU at 42 celsius idle. I'm pretty happy with the drop in temp and I have plenty of fan left if I have to kick them up.

Anyway Here are a couple of pictures of the mods, thanks to GuyHersh for getting me motivated.

Thanks, I'm toying with the idea of putting another fan on the other side of the case to move air across the inside of the case and to balance out the look. Once I complete that project then I'll finish sleeving the power wires for the HD & DVD. I've got an ATI AIW that I'll install and should make for a nice little multi purpose setup.

Dude, that's great work!!! You should go into business!!

I gave up on my aria.

I also just got an apple G5 that is water cooled from the factory.

Thanks Gravity, the Aria is a "project", so to speak. I know with some work I can make it cool and quiet. I agree with you on the Sonatas my main rig is in a Sonata case also an for the money there hard to beat!

Hey gravity, what "factory" are you talking about?? I know it's not Apple, so don't try and pull that one...

Thanks Smonkey, I'm going to update the pictures hopefully this afternoon with the second case fan and a picture of the rear of the case with the fan controllers installed.

Sounds great, I'll be looking for the new pics.

I'm water cooling mine and building a custom box on top of the case to hold the pump and rad.
Still waiting on a couple parts and 6600GTs to hit the street, before I add the water cooling.
