They just keep getting worse the longer firefox is out. At first no popups ever, now slowly I've been getting more and more popups (nothing at all like IE is). And no, it's not from spyware. They are normal stupid popups.

Seriously...I never understood why they don't program a browser that doesn't implement the idea of websites being able to open popups. Just make it so the only thing that can open a new window is manually selecting "new window".

Disable flash. These pop-ups coming through firefox are due to flash animations being able to open new browser windows.

I agree completely. Only way to get a damn popup is when I say...open in new tab/window. That's the way it should be.

How would you start a new thread in ATOT? How would you open a webpage from a link on the desktop? What about when you clicked a link in an IM window?

New Topic would take me to a new page....how the majority of the links on the internet work. Opening a file on your desktop is very different as it comes from C:\ (or whatever location) that isn't http:// based (this would be easy to code). IM window...to bad, that's what copy and paste is for.

Fine, make it so clicking a link can open a new window. Don't tell me they can't detect the difference between a mouse click and a website sending a New Window request;)

about:config
browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs

Tools->options->advanced
Open links from other applications in a new tab
Force links that open new windows in a new tab

Shockwaves get around FF's popup blocker.

Adblock + Filterset.G got rid of those for me... great extension. Filterset G (read instuctions on how to install http://www.geocities.com/pierceive/adblock/ ) Only issue so far is that some of the p0rn sites fail to show the picture in the new window... then again IE is still better at image handling.

In all honesty, I think if a website is going to put ads in they probably should be hosting it on their own server... how many times have you waited for a page to load or gotten errors from the ad-site rather than the actual site you're visiting ? crappy setup

Anand knows you bastards blocked all his ads w/ adblocker. Time for drastic measures. Insane pop-up ads that treats FF+Adblocker like bitches. Those european review sites always find a way around adblockers.
