Arghh... CD/DVD Drive Problems..

To make a long story short, I accidentally uninstalled my CD/DVD drive... I looked on Dell for a driver to reinstall, nothing... I can't use the CD that came with the computer that has the drivers on it... Obviously, because it doesn't work... I unhooked the SATA cables from the drive and rehooked them and rebooted the computer, here is what it does now, opens, but does not close.. Anything I can do? Get a new drive, that's what I've planned on but would love to not have to 🙂

I've never had to install drivers to get DVD drives to work. Does it show up in BIOS? if not you might try reconnecting the SATA & power cable. if not ask dell customer support or buy a new one.

This. The last time I had to install drivers for an optical drive was in the DOS days.
