i left some pasta in a bowl for a week now it's rock hard, moldy, and discolored on my bowl - damn.

I agree. It's what I did with the spaghetti that had been sitting in a tupperware bowl for a few months in the back of my fridge. Instead of dealing with the inevitable fragrant cloud of spores, I just tossed it and bought a new bowl/lid.

thats why those disposable ziploc bowls are good.
