I agree, there are lots of recent trailers that use it...
However, it's akin to a band offering sample music for download and then only providing .ogg format songs, or whatever they're called, instead of the commonly accepted and universal .mp3 or .wav formats.
Are you kidding me?? Quicktime is NOT the same as Ogg Vorbis. Quicktime is a great format for digital video and many many many people have it. Whenever I do a fresh install, Quicktime is definitely on the list of must have software.
The new Quicktime with mpeg4 is great.
Dude, I'm not trying to compare the two as far as being in any way equivalent in quality or whatever - they aren't even the same types of media.
What I was alluding to is that when people encode their videos in Quicktime, they're using a somewhat obscure standard that will leave a lot of people out and unable to view the clips - not only people like me in my current work situation, but also people who don't have the know-how to download and install software or people who refuse to install invasive software like RealPlayer or even Quicktime to some degree.
The reason for my post was to point out that there are standard formats of audio, video, images, etc on the Internet for a reason - to be sure that most if not all people viewing your content, regardless of operating system or hardware, are able to view what you are offering without any special downloads, drivers, etc...
(This topic was not meant to be a flame on Apple or Quicktime, I just want to watch movies!)
