I was originally looking to get an A4 1.8t and modding it to ~300hp, but I was warned that the reliability isnt nearly close to what bmw offers.

If you've saved the money for it and can afford that unbelievable insurance, go for it!
Is the insurance really that unbelievable? I think its pretty reasonable for a M3. I expected it to be a lot higher.... 2100/yr is with a $500 deductible.
I know some of my friends pay almost that much for their econoboxes.

eh, nah, if you mod an 1.8 to 300hp it will not be reliable... but the RS4 is kinda cool if you're looking at Audis... (had an original quattro once, heh, almost killed me)

Just don't kill yourself with your M3, it's a lot of car...

I dont drive agressively... I save that for the track
:D

What year M3? My buddy has a 95 M3 and I can tell you some of the problems they all seem to have. I have a 95 325i and it actually had some similar problems to his. His were much worse though.

What problems did your friend have? My friend has a '99 M3 and so far, he has needed a new O2 sensor, his driver's side window squeaks when you roll it up, his power steering tube broke... I forget what else :p All with 50k miles on the clock. Although I should mention that the power steering thing was probably because he got rid of his underpaneling after he hit a blown semi-truck tire and went with his Reiger(sp?) kit.

Well, I guess if you are in Michigan and have no fault insurance, then maybe it's not too unreasonable. I pay $600 per year for my truck. I can't see spending more.

I pay ~$1400/yr on my '98 Corolla -- 19yo w/clean record. If the car/insurance was in my name, I'd be paying ~$2800/yr for minimum coverage. $2100 isn't bad at all...for an M3 & 21yo w/2 tickets..

How depressing. I pay 3000/yr with a clean driving record on a '91 Accord EX-R.

But you live in Canuckia, so I'm assuming those are in Canadian dollars. Plus, its a different country with different laws, which could changes insurers operating costs.

Or you need to switch insurers, pronto
