Argh, tying ties sucks!

How many tries did it take you to tie your first one and have it turn out nice?? I'm doing some online help pages but it always ends up hosed... I think I'm going to tie it like a shoelace and pretend I don't notice.

What does that mean? lol...

A suite?

I tied like 2 ties before I got it. I always tie a double winsor...looks damn good, and I'm quick. 😛

After I spent a month interning with a judge last year (my junior year in HS) i got used to it... Full Winsor, Half Winsor, etc... just takes practice. I can do it without thinking now, but when I started I had to have my dad help me 😱 and even then it would take at least five or six tries.

The first time I tied a tie, it took me three tries to get it right. After six years of tying my own ties, I still average about 2.5 tyings per time I wear a tie. I think I've only gotten it right on the first try once. Now I can get the knots fine, but I always botch the length. I use a simple "cheating" type of knot too, I can't imagine tying a Full Windsor or something.

I think I just got it - Half Windsor seems to be the easiest. My problem is that I wasn't tying the knot near my neck and was instead doing it in the middle of my chest where the knot was made with the fat part of the tie. I think it took me 8 tries between trying (and ruining) all of the different methods.

I hope nobody laughs at me!

Heh - whereas some of us grew up with the ability to use our hands to build things, or to solve difficult problems, this dude was born with Corporate Blood and knew how to schedule meetings, tie ties, and score with secretaries long before he could even talk. 🙂 Sweet.

First tie? It took many times and I'm sure it didn't look that great. If you're concerned, have someone do it for you, then practice later. Once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy. 🙂
