it's with newegg's Adata 512mb pc3200 memory, biostar m7ncd (already flashed to latest bios), barton 2800 with this power supply. it also has a 9800pro (cat 4.6), 160gig maxtor, floppy, and cdrw. it boots up fine and everything under 166fsb but it reboots by itself when i try to run 3dmark2003. i tried running sisoft sandra burn in test with the cpu but that failed after a few tries also. the cpu temperature though is low at about 45 C load with an alx800 and an 80mm case fan. weird thing is that it works at 165fsb but at 166 or above, it crashes. when i put on my vantec tornado that pushes 84cfm, it still crashes at 166 or above. so it seems like my cpu shouldn't be a problem. or can it? my agp is locked at 66. memory timing is at 7-3-3-2.5 and frequency is at 100%. does anyone know what's going on? btw, would it matter if my 512 (one stick) is on the first slot or the 2nd slot? also, why is it that when i set my fsb at 166, the POST screen reads the memory at 366. but when i set it to 165, 167 or 168, POST screen says DDR400? thanks for all of the help in advance.

Regardless of what the RAM is rated at, set the tRAS at 11 instead of 7.

even though 7 is the "optimal"/default setting for the ram?

Yes, Nforce2 boards seem to benchmark higher with a tRAS setting of 11... maybe not by much, but there is a slight performance gain over a setting of 6 or 7.

Agreed, I wouldn't use that in a dual-processor system (one AthlonXP, one 9800 Pro). Enermax, Fortron, Antec, Sparkle Power... even for those quality brands, I'd personally like to be at the 400W mark or higher.

Also, check your manual for the proper dipswitch/jumper settings for the FSB. I'm not at home with my lovely 600MB+ collection of mobo manuals at the moment :D but I seem to recall the M7NCD being configured that way. And boost the voltage on your RAM to 2.7 volts if the BIOS allows you to adjust it.

word to what they said about the powerfupply.

I have a 2200+, 512 megs 2x256 crucial pc2700, and a A7n8x-d 1.04 and I could never get ANYTHING above stock speeds.

Finall after like a a year and and a half, yesterday my new 400watt psu came in (allied) and I loaded it up and now i'm crusing at 2.2Ghz 200*11

who said you needed a rev 2.0 to get 200mhz? :p

3.3V 3.29V
+12V 11.79V
-12V -12.03V
-5V -5.04V

that's what it reads in the bios.

Have you seen it on any review sites ? And 11.79 on the 12v rail ? And what id the voltage on the +5v rail (a critical one) Use a VOM to assure correct readings.

And in general Antec, PC Power and Cooling and a few others are know good PSU companies.

PSU's by Powmax and the like are crap....

well, i switched the ps with the one in my current computer which i use to o/c a thoroughbred 2100 to 2.1ghz with a r9700pro and epox 8rda+. the same problem is still occurring. so that means the ram and the ps shouldn't be a problem. blah :(

Use your higher watt PSU, at 166MHz FSB try to set slowest timing for memory and use FSB/memory bus at "synchronous" mode. If this not help, then PSU should be the cause.

Continue from above, try to unplug cdrw power cable, use 1 piece of your old pc ram (if usable), use your r9700pro and start again.
If not try to borrow a better and higher watt PSU to test.

If all above not help, then maybe your mobo is bad. :(
