Stupid citibank web site was down most of the day when my last payment was due. I made it two days late and they still hit me with their late fee :( It's not my fault their sh!t sucks sometimes.

It doesn't go on your credit unless it is 30+ days late does it? I paid one 2 days late before and it wasn't on my credit report.

yikes...all of my creditors usually give me a week grace period before applying a late charge. My storage garage, on the other hand, will start billing me the minute it's late.

It goes on if you miss a payment.

I called them last month just to do that, since the citibank site took 30days to confirm my bank acct#. They waived the pay-by-phone fee and the payment went through.

you could just call them and say you didn't receive your statement so you didn't know it was due. If you've been a customer for a long time they'll most likely reverse the charge.

I had to do this a few times during college, works like a charm.

2 days late and they hit you with a late fee? That's BS. All my creditors have AT LEAST a 5 day grace period. I'd call them and tell them to remove the late fee or lose my business, end of story.

man...good thing you posted this thread...i almost forgot to make my CC payment (it's due march 22)

with my citibank card it automatically deducts from my savings every month but my fleet visa card has no automatic option like that.

Coincidence, I just opened a letter from VISA a few mins ago telling me that they raised my student-card limit from $500 to $800. I'm happy... last summer I had to use my mom's card to order my computer cuz my limit was too low.

My statement comes in on the 4th of every month and I have till the 23rd to pay it.

Plenty of time to pay it even if there site goes down for a day or so.

The only time I forgot to pay a credit card bill, someone from the company actually called me. They were very nice and polite, took an electronic draft right over the phone, didn't charge me extra for it, and didn't report it on my credit report.

Of course, the credit card belonged to my credit union at the time, and I knew the lady who called me. :) heh!
