Argh! Lost my wallet :(

I still have my birth certificate and social insurance card at home...

How long would you say it takes to get a new bank card, student card, and drivers license without any picture ID? I've had this wallet since I was 13 and this is the 1st time I've ever lost it 🙁

That sucks Mucman 🙁

I have no idea how long it takes for replacements, but make sure you contact all of the financial institutions that you had cards for in your wallet.

Bank Card - as soon as you can walk into your bank during banking hours with a picture id
Student Card - as soon as you can walk into your school ID office during normal business hours with a picture id
Driver's License - see above

My advice get the stuff you have at home and go to the DMV on Monday!

I had 2 VISA's in there too... I guess I better cancel those ASAP. Forgot that my $100 Chapters GC is in there too 🙁

I just realized that all I have to live on is my $50 in change! Ack!

For what it's worth I offer you my empathy for how low it feels to lose those things. Hopefully it'll soon be past. I do recommend getting a U.S. Passport and keep it locked up at home or in safety deposit until such time as you need it. It's about as good of an I.D. as you can have worldwide up to this point.

Suprisingly few people actually have passports... it's a nice thing to have.

I would think you could call your bank and let them know what happened and they should be able to send you a new bank card to the same address they send your statements too.

As far as your license goes, I'd call the place where you took your driver's test and ask them how to get a replacement.

I don't get any bank statements mail to me.

The problem with getting a new license is my lack of secondary ID, but I think they can work things out for situations like mine. The website says to call and they will instruct me on what to do. I'm pretty sure that they are going to require a signed document from a family member or workplace which shouldn't be too difficult to obtain.

What can I do about the Chapters GC? I guess I need to the receipt and then ask them to deactivate that card.

After a nights sleep I realize that this isn't too big of a deal. I can pay for my new DL with a cheque since I don't have a debit card right now.

make a photocopy of every major card in your wallet and keep it at home. that way if u lose your wallet, u know what the credit card phone #'s are. also, driving with a photocopy of your license *MAY* help if u are stopped by a cop on the way to the DMV.
