ARGH!!! Is there anything more annoying than dust in paint?

This is the THIRD time I've painted this damn car..... If I have to strip the paint off again.... I'm gonna be pissed.... argh.

btw, I'm building a model of this.

When I want real good paint on something, I always buff it out. Otherwise to get great paint like on a car you really need a clean room, wet floor, all that stuff. Failing that set up, anybody could get a great paint job with lacquer and elbow grease. 1200-1600 wetsand then damp rubbing compound, wet rubbing compound, then polish. Did airplane wings like that one time. Spent some time spot repairing acrylics the same way. I'm still amazed at guys who can spray with no sags or dusting, that's experience though. Knowing your thinner/kicker speeds, ambient air and all that.

yeah, the car will be sanded and polished. But I'd like to keep the sanding to a minimum, as sanding a 1/24 scale car with 1500grit paper takes a while 🙂

Agreed, it's a tough road to take. But even coming off the line guys spot paint jobs all the time. Nowadays with clear coating they use aggresive buffers. The color coat is harder too I think. Production primers are high high fill, really expensive.

It'd be easier to paint a real car than this model. Just because the curves on the model are 1/24th the size.... makes then hard to sand.

<< sand in your jar of vaseline? >>

That's annoying too, but eventually you get callosed enough that you don't get the rashes anymore. No more need for vaseline after that.

When you surf in northern california, you have to wear a wetsuit, as the water's pretty cold. hen you paddle taround on your board, your wetsuit rubs on your armpits, and after a couple hours in the water, your armpits get rubbed kinda raw. When you get your wetsuit off, vaseline helps your armpit wetsuit rash. However, it's really easy to end up with sand in your vaseline when you bring it to the beach everyday.

What did you think I was talking about?

Ah the wonders of airbrushing... I wish I had one... 🙁
My fancypants japanese models are mostly unbuilt while I chuck money in other directions.

A leaky PVC joint that isn't sealed after reapplying solvent more than once is annoying.

That's because you are not supposed to do that because you will never get a good seal. You have to cut it and try again. I used to install fire sprinklers with that cpvc stuff and it was a bummer to make a mistake...

Dust in paint, arrrggghhhh.

How about blood in paint...

That's an odd one... I'm using red paint anyway 🙂

I'd say that skydiving over NYC and your parachute malfunctions and you land on your eyeball on the spike on top of the empire state building is slightly more annoying..

man i HATE it when i do that

I don't know, that sounds like a cool stunt.

I bet it's more annoying forget where you placed your detachable penis (ala king missile)

The keyword here is "in PAINT".

And yes, now that you mention it . . . wolverines in paint are more annoying than dust in paint . . . especially when you try to free them.

😀
