I am also a sucker for bottled water. I like it, often, more than BRITA because a BRITA will often taste like a refrigerator tastes. And bottled water is so easy to just grap and carry along.
Really, though, bottled water is often more contaminated than tap water. In fact, water bottled in state doesn't have to pass any FDA regulations. I believe, also, that the EPA regulations on our tap water are much stricter than FDA regulations, which regulate our bottled water.

in Dekalb where i used to live the water was so bad you had to have bottled water. It was unsafe to drink the county was sued a few times over it.

When i moved into my new house it had a reverse osmosis water filtration system. That is great! its a little expensive ($100 for filters a year) but the water taste great.

What's funny is that the regulations around bottled water are actually much more lax than they are for tap water... ie NO e-coli testing required! Yipee! http://www.nrdc.org/water/drinking/nbw.asp Scroll down and check out the table. Slightly dated I think, but I've never come across anything more recent.

Also, I highly recommend finding a video of Pen and Teller's bottled water taste test. Hilarious how stupid people are. Be a man and drink from the fvcking tap. It's WATER.

I feel you. Usually when I go out I can't drink tap water and have to buy bottles of water because the reverse osmosis system in my house has simply spoiled me.

Ahh we're the same person, I posted the same link, and the thing that got me thinking of it was that Penn and Teller episode of what BS bottled water is. I actually don't believe I've consumed bottled water since I saw that.

yeah i LOVE my system. Only thing i dislike is when i make a batch of juice (2 quarts) it kinda runs out. I can't get a full glass of water after that.

we are planning to buy a new fridge. we are going to get one with a ice maker. i want to hook the ice maker up to the system so we get good ice. hmm

since i moved in i find i am drinking more water then i ever have. i drink around 2-3 quarts a day!

I don't care about bottled water, people carry it every single time with them, pansies. Sure, people are THAT dehydrated. Those things look like baby formula bottles. Just buy a watercooler.

Drinking well-water out of a hose in your backyard is the best. I remember doing that when i was little and was really hot, best thirst-quincher ever.

I buy 89¢ gallons of purified water at the supermarket and pour it into a really good 32 oz sports bottle I bought from sports authority.

I perfer distilled water over reverse osmosis, but I all the gallon jugs of purified water seem to be reverse osmosis.

Here's what you should do:

conduct an experiment where you go back on tap water for a week. Note what you eat, what you do, etc.
note how much, often, and painful your heartburn is.

go on filtered water from tap water for another week. note all that I explained above.

Go on bottled water (preferably not hottled in your state or any sate sharing your aquifer) for a week. Note all that I explained above.

If you are having heartburn while doing all the same activites and eating all the same foods, but only on tap water, bring your results to the health board in your town. If filtered water still gives you heartburn but bottled water doesn't, there's something wrong with the aquifer that home filtering can't fix. generally, regardless of where people say bottled water comes from, it actually does come from glaciers or a mountain above all forms of contaiminators (save for acid rain... but i don't think acid rain reaches that high in the atmosphere... could be wrong, but w/e) ... so it should be free from most things that would be in tap water or underground water

I personally am a Poland Spring guy. I freakin hate that Avian sweetness. And yea, I can't drink fountain water unless I'm dying of thirst.

Brita Water + Nalgene Water Bottle at all times, good stuff.

Yeah, otherwise I go for the Dasani/Aquafina brands.

We just get the Gallons of water from WalMart or the Grocery store. Only like $.90/gallon (only like $.60 at Walmart)
