Argh! DirectCD there is no Patch for XP!

Argh! I bough earlier this year a HP CD-Writer. It came with DirectCD (v.3 or 4) and HP's MyCd ok? Now I realized that DirectCD wasn't gonna work right awayI never bothered to buy Easy CD Creator because HP's software was fine. Now I figured that there would be a patch, but now I go to Roxio's site and guess what? No patch for anything before v5. Damn It! Here's my question. Is there any free version of just DirectCD that I can use or anything so I can access my DirectCD CD's? Or will I need to get Easy CD Creator 5? Thanks for any help you can give. How much would Easy CD Creator 5 Basic cost? Thanks millions!

There is a cd software that helps for pack cdr burning but i can never find it. try to do a search on google.

DirectCD is a real PITA of a program. I have used ECDC 2,3,4 and now 5, and have always made sure that sorry thing was never installed. Anyway, ECDC 5 is not yet ready for XP . . . Roxio is still "working on the patch."

If you want to keep using those CDs, you will need to upgrade.

There are other Packet writing apps, but none are completely compatible with DirectCD, and
none (to my knowledge) are available for free.

Roxio is working on an update to Easy CD Creator 5 that will make it compatible with XP.

ECD 5 Basic is not as easy to find, but a search on pricewatch should turn up a couple of
links - prices ranged from $19 to $45 (with shipping)

Roxio just put an XP compatible Trial version of EZCD 5 Basic (good for 90 days) on their site.22 MB file.Go get it.Funny how they have this one ready for XP but no updater for existing EZCD 5 owners. They also said it would be released on the day Windows XP is officially released.Yeah right.

What about bombarding Roxio with emails? I have Easy CD Creator 4 and am not happy they will not support this in XP. Nice way to increase sales by forcing people to buy the latest and greatest piece of software.:disgust:
