How the hell long have they known about the re-occuring alarm bug? and yet, STILL waiting for 4.2 to possibly fix this.

I normally work from home on Fridays but got called into the office at the last minute. As a result, my friday alarm, which is set for 7:30am, goes off at 8:30am. Not a big deal when i'm home, but quite a big deal when i'm at work... with my phone on my desk.... and me in the restroom.

So not only was my alarm blaring throughout the office for 3-4 minutes, but it was boss who had to turn it off.

Shame on me for not turning it off last week when i noticed it was off by an hour, but screw Apple for knowing about this for over a month and not fixing it yet.

Yeah, they should really release small point updates for things like this. It's funny - the iPhone is terrible at making phone calls, and now has a bug for recurring alarms over date changes. Like the two basic things you want your cell phone to do, and it stinks at them.

The lack of security was cute for jailbraking and stuff, because Apple's mobile device marketshare skyrocketed and people buy iPhones and iTouches to get free apps, but then you hear about a million phones in China being infected with a zombie virus and you start to get a little worried. C'mon now, Apple...

I deal with a similar thing at work. We have a giant database app that handles everything from manufacturing to engineering. Our latest update broke over 20 important functions, 3 or 4 of them vital to business. Next update (patch fixes) is scheduled for 6 months from now. Ack!

Good thing I don't care about syncing up regularly or updating my iphone. My iphone 4 is still on whatever version it was when it came out of the box and works like a charm.

I never once even thought about using my phone as an alarm until recent smartphones. It's hardly a "basic" thing for a phone and I know quite a few people who still use alarm clocks despite having a phone with alarm.

everyone uses there phone for an alarm. Doesnt even require a "smartphone".

I started doing it when I was working getting up at 4am for work. I realized that although I could sleep through alarm clocks, I would never fail to wake up for a ringing phone.

Wait, hold up...

You go to the restroom WITHOUT your iPhone?

What do you do while you're in there?

Really? The only people I know who DON'T use their cell phones for alarms & time are older people (like 50+ years old). Most people I see haven't used a watch in years. I do have an alarm clock tho, but only as a backup to my phone's alarm in the morning.

Apple is taking their sweet time with 4.2. Is it a glitch with the phone's internal clock or the clock app itself. If it's the latter, I wonder if they could push a fix via the app store.

Your sample size may be too small.

On the other hand, I do not know anyone who uses their cellphone as their morning alarm clock, and most of the people I know are under 50.

Watches are about a 50/50 thing in my circles.

Heh these two contradict eachother, because stating that everyone uses thier phone for an alarm is obviously untrue.

I use a watch on occasion (usually if I'm dressing up, I have a fairly nice wristwatch). But I ALWAYS use my iphone for an alarm. I actually have several set so I can shut one off and sleep another half hour if I want.

Ive been using cell phone alarms since early this decade back on a Razr and even before. I'm not sure what to make of the DST "bug", my wife told me about it and I deleted my existing ones and remade them like they instructed, just in case. *shrug*

Yeah either that or new to smartphones. Smartphone alarms are due to the fact that software allows programmability of the alarm(s). Unlimited alarms, programmable snooze time, repeatability, sensors that track your wakefulness, functionality that changes based on your location among others. Been using smartphone alarms for many years, Nokia S60 and now iOS. Haven't worn a watch in years.
