ARGH! All that and no SetiDriver under XP Home

conjur

No Lifer
Ok...got XP Home installed and tried running SetiDriver and get an error "the procedure entry point n could not be found in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.DLL"

ARGH!!

N/M! Downloaded a new copy of SetiDriver and it's fine.

BUT, how does one get the checkbox to show that's for Processor Affinity? And, what's that do?

OH FUDGE!! XP Home doesn't support dual procs.

Someone at MSFT is gonna have to pay for this frustration!! :|:|:|:|:|:|

😀

owwww crap - not even 2 procs for XP home? Unbelieveable! With the frequency of multiproc systems these days I would espect the baseline to be two cpu's. Quads are within most budgets today, duals are cheap.
MS is cheaper.

conjur, it pays to do your homework, huh? 😉

I use Home Edition because I have no use for the additional features of Pro.

Yes, if you would have checked the Anandtech FAQ on the differences between the two versions of the OS, this is one of the things listed. It's, perhaps, the largest limitation of home edition. 🙂

Didn't even think about it. Was just trying to get this new PC up and running. Can't find my full XP Pro I got from them once the Whistler beta was over....hmm...it's around here somewhere......
