Sup All,

I have been trying to fix this computer since last September. It just randomly freezes and we have to reboot everytime.

Here are the specs:

Epox 9NPA+ Ultra board
AMD X2 3800+
2 Gigs of DDR Ram...branded...Corsair I think.
1 Sata Seagate Drive
X300SE ATI Video Card with ATI Catalyst loaded <- latest version as of Feb 2009
Dual monitor setup...one through DVI and the other through Sub?
PC Power & Cooling Power Supply...465W

No overclocking and No gaming on this rig at all. It is for business purposes.

It does McAfee Corporate Virus program, MS Office 2007, XP Pro SP3, Acrobat 7, Lotus Notes 8, IE 7.

There has been no pattern of the crashes that I can decipher. It can happen while in IE 7 only or Excel only or Lotus Notes only and so on.

What I have done so far:

  • -replaced the memory and ran memtest. No problems
    - replaced the power supply from Antec to PC Power & Cooling..upped the wattage
    - Replaced the Heatsink with Thermaltake 2300RPM with Cooper and applied Arctic Silver
    - Blew all the dust away
    - Re-installed all the software with a fresh format and applied all XP updates
    - Checked the temprature of the CPU and system...all normal. Attached is the HW Info screen.

The message I get is the 9c one. I have 4 minidumps that I have used the MS Debug tool. Below are the results:

I really need help here. Not sure if the Video Card/Drivers are bad, motherboard is bad or the CPU now. And since this is 939 socket, I can't just replace the motherboard...have to buy all new and re-install everything(a nightmare).

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanx so much

Considering you have compleatly wiped and reinstalled everything and are still having the problem it may be an issue with the HDD. It may have some slightly currupted sectors that its not IDing so data still gets writen to them rather then the sectors being excluded from the partition. Try running chkdsk and other HDD utiliteis to see if they can ID any problems with the drive and possibly correct them.

Hi,

Thanx. I have tried that now and that seems ok. I have defragged the drive too.

Still crashes.
