I got the $200 6800 deal from CompUSA. I bought the card back home, and now I'm in my dorm 300 miles away. I take the card out from its box to install my waterblock on it and while removing one of the HSF screws I find that one of them had a damaged head that made my screwdriver slip. After removing it gently with pliers, I found the RAM thermal "sponge" all shredded up and the stock GPU thermal paste gone and replaced with a quick and messy AS job from the last owner.

Fvck! This probably means this card failed at unlocking pipelines, shaders, or overclocking.

Dammit, do I have to return this card to the same store I bought it from?

But does it works at least??

Lol, I´m Brazil, and my one is arriving on December 11, a friend is bringing to me.

He took the last one in ComUSA Detroit.

He said the box was open too, but the seller said it was working.

I hope it works, I simple can´t return it.

This is why we complain about people returning / RMAing cards that they really shouldn't return.

CompUSA is full of tricks lately.

That's bullsh1t. Demand that they give you an equivalent or better card for their attempted fraud and your lost time and money. Throw in some threats about the state attorney's office and the BBB. It's worth a shot. At least you should get your money back.

The stupid thing about that is them selling you a used card when you bought a "new one" I'd argue that point hard until you get a replacement or something better.
