I really think its funny that he wants toand thinks its ok to inconvenince the mailman but any suggestion to inconvenience him personally is not acceptable.

the irony is too funny:p

i wonder how long before the mailman jumps on the trunk of yoru car and leaves a steaming turd in the mailbox :p lol just kidding but it would be funny

Maybe some of you can't read. From my first message: "Now, I've tried to move my car to a different area so that he doens't have to get out, but every once in a while I have to choice but to park there." When I can park somewhere else, I usually do. The area in front of the mail box is only blocked on average 1 day a week, when I either can't park anywhere alse or I simply forgot to move it to another area between 10am and noon (when he delievers the mail). I have made an effort to make the area clear when he delivers.

Actually, you said:

the other two have to park on each side on the driveway out by the road. There are no other places to park.

and

Now, he just doesn't give us our mail at all if my car is parked in my usual space.

Maybe I should have stated that there are no other places to park on my property. I try and move my car to areas in front of my neighbors property during the two hours that he delivers, which I didn't state in my original message. That is my usualy spot because I've been parkign there for 2 years and 9 months without any hassels.

WTF? Since when do mailcarriers not walk around? I realize that some routes it doesn't make sense but personally our mailcarriers park in front of my house (corner) and walk one side of the street and down the other, delivering all the mail on foot before getting back into the truck.

Bah - I think it's because Florida's mailmen are lazy. That's the way they did it in South Dakota :)

There are different kinds of mail route, city and rural etc. If you are on a route where the Mailman delivers from a truck you can't obstruct the box. He is not supposed to get out. Time is money. Your old mailman was a nice guy that makes my stamps cost more. This is just government efficiency at work. Don't you hate it. The bastards actually make rules to keep costs down. The guy is warning you over and over cause he doesn't want to cut off your service. Put a box on your car, do something yourself, or prepare to go to the PO for your mail.

My Mom delivers mail and she has talked to me about issues such as this over the years. They are not suppoused to get out of the vehicle, and if they have to they have to lock doors etc. They are suppouse to never ( if possible) put the car in reverse and usually the route is planned to make this so.

My Mom has a 70 mile route with like 600 families, and a Dodge pickup that has mail in the extended cab, the bed of truck and on the dash and she has to sit in the middle of the truck so that she can use the accelerator and brake with her left foot and drive with her left hand. I would say that getting out of her truck and walking one step to deliver your mail is allot to do

I think the postman has been polite and maybe it is time for you to get a PO box, sell your car or park down the street, or stop getting mail.

move the mailbox to your front porch. then that fvcktard will really have to walk. :)

actually, mine is on the porch. lots of areas don't have ANY houses with boxes near the street. the mailpeople have (gasp!) walk from house to house.

If your mail route has curbside delivery, you don't have the option to move your mailbox to your porch AFAIK.

In some new developments, they aren't even putting mailboxes on the street - they are building the equivalent of a huge array of PO Boxes, and everyone in the development picks up their mail at one central location. The Post Office figures as long as it's a new development, no one can complain that they are getting less service.

it is not up to him to go out of his way to deliver your mail. Move the car or do without the mail :/

complain

but here's the rule:

1.4 Clear Approach

Customers must keep the approach to their mailboxes clear of obstructions to allow safe access for delivery. If USPS employees are impeded in reaching a mail receptacle, the postmaster may withdraw delivery service.

2.7 Location

Subject to state laws and regulations, a curbside mailbox must be placed to allow safe and convenient delivery by carriers without leaving their vehicles. The box must be on the right-hand side of the road in the direction of travel of the carriers on any new rural route or highway contract route, in all cases where traffic conditions are dangerous for the carriers to drive to the left to reach the box, or where their doing so would violate traffic laws and regulations.

Hey you can always get a doctors note syaing that you cannot walk to your mailbox, then they will deliver to you door.

actually, mine is on the porch. lots of areas don't have ANY houses with boxes near the street. the mailpeople have (gasp!) walk from house to house. maybe you would like to walk 60 miles a day carrying the mail of 600 families. Sounds like you were on a city route .. the city carriers walk here also. But on a rural route .. walking is out of the question.
