It immediately calls to mind a great song from my past -

Now, sing, Michael, sing
On the route of the nineteen bus
We hear them sayin'
How you get a rude and a reckless?
Don't you be so crude and feckless
You been drinking brew for breakfast
Rudie can't fail (no, no)
We reply
I know that my life make you nervous
But I tell you I can't live in service
Like the doctor who was born for a purpose
Rudie can't fail (ok)
I went to the market to realize my soul
What I need I just don't have (oh no)
First they curse, then they press me 'til I hurt
They say, Rudie can't fail
First you must cure your temper
Then find a job in a paper
You need someone for a savior
Rudie can't fail
We reply
Now we get a rude and a reckless
To be seen lookin' cool an' speckless
And drinking brew for breakfast
Rudie can't fail (no, no, no)
I went to the market to realize my soul
'Cause what I need I just don't have
First they curse, then they press me 'til I hurt
Rudie can't fail
Okay! Okay!
So where you want to go today?
Hey, boss man!
You're looking pretty smart
(Chicken skin suit) with your chicken skin suit
You think you're pretty hot
(Pork pie hat) In the pork pie hat
Rudie can't fail
Rudie can't fail
Rudie can't fail
Rudie can't fail
Rudie can't fail
Rudie can't fail
Rudie can't fail
Rudie can't fail
Rudie can't fail
Rudie can't fail
Rudie can't fail
Rudie can't fail

What the feck? Go feck yerself, eh?

I always thought it sounded like Canadians trying to swear, lol.

Must say, not being Irish (well, technically a little bit, but not enough) I'm not certain this is correct, as every Irish person seems to have a different explanation. But it's forever associated with Father Ted for me.

What does ‘feck’ mean?‘Feck’ is an Irish or Scottish word which, in early 19th- century Britain, meant to ‘keep a look out’. From the late 19th century it was defined as ‘to steal’.

I was kidding. I liked the movie for a slow-burn drama. I was just demonstrating the usage of the term for reference sake.

And despite the definition of the word that pmv had posted above, in the movie it definitely sounded like they were using it in place of the f-bomb all or most of the time.

I watched 'Banshees of Inisherin' last night. They fecked it all up (they use the word a lot, Inisherin is an island off the coast of Ireland.)

Haven't seen the movie yet. It's a fictional island supposed to be one of the Arans isn't it? Never been myself. Got as far as the Cliffs of Insanity, er Moher. Weather was shit so took a hard pass on the ride out. Decided to stick to staying warm and partying, made sure I got a sweater though, have to.

Yeah from what I gathered with google-fu, it's a fictional island. I didn't make that clear in that quoted post, now that I read it again.
