Yes. i do both. However, once you get that 120Hz LCD, 3D glasses are under $100

And yes, i like 120Hz for shooters in 2D and S3D also.

no, i see no benefit on spending the cash to get 2 new monitors. + im not sure they even make 120 HZ monitors that are the proper resolution (16:10)

You don't know what you are missing if you play fast paced shooters.

It is like trying to explain color TV to someone who only has black and white

What is this proper resolution shit? Why is 16:10 the happy medium?

I think I'm going to skip this generation and wait for the 240hz or 4D monitors.

It really is a big difference if you can push enough frames in the FPS. I had the Acer 120Hz monitor and it made TF2 look so smooth, almost like a different game. I eventually returned it though as that specific monitor had too much blacklight bleed for me and not great viewing angles. I'll wait at least another year or two to pick up one again

I don't really care how great 120hz is as long as the prices remain high. Just doesn't make sense to purchase one when you can have 3 same size monitor.

If you are talking 10-25% price difference, sure. But not Triple/quadruple the price.

I'm using a 120Hz monitor and recently got a 3D kit. The 3D is pretty impressive in some games and less useful in others. It's nice but I might not pick a display only for that reason. I'm also not sold on using 120 Hz in 2D either. I just don't see the diff even with fast paced shooters like L4D2.

With Vsync on and triple buffered? You really don't see the difference with tearing and ghosting?

Either you have Vsync and triple buffering off or your famerates are not high enough to begin with. Don't you notice dragging a window on the desktop is a little different on a 120Hz display? :p

Get yourself a pair of glasses

You have to understand... I came from a non-gaming PC to a monster of a box. So the smoothness I'm seeing could be coming from everything and anything... my i5 2500k, my GTX570, my SSD, who knows. All I know is I'm not a fan of my particular monitor because of backlight bleed and not a great image in general.

And I have the 3D glasses. I believed we discussed it before ;)

Real men use 5:4, and it better be a 300 pound CRT none of this LCD pansy shit.

Seriously, 16:9 big screen for games/movies 4:3 or 5:4 for other stuff. That is the proper setup.

because its infinity superior for everything and i use my computer for a lot more then gaming

more space = better

Oh come on, somehow a 1680x1050 or 1920x1200 monitor is better than my 2540x1440 16x9 monitor...

Number of pixels are more important than aspect ratio when AR > 1 (dont want to hear about no 100000000x1 monitor).

Do you have a 60Hz display? Set it up next to your display and clone them - then play a game and look back and forth.

However, if your display has excessive backlight bleed so that you notice it in gaming, RMA it. And you mentioned the image quality. Which brand and model is it?

i have a 30" HP LP3065 which is a superb 2560x1600 display. Yet there are noticeable advantages to FPS play on my ASUS 23" 1080 120Hz display in the area of tearing and ghosting. However, my ASUS display does not have the color accuracy nor the viewing angles of my HP; it is much brighter than the HP which is necessary for 3D Vision. Of course, my HP costs about as much as my 3 ASUS displays together.

You have to tweak your games to get the maximum enjoyment out of 3D Vision. Learn to use the hotkeys to adjust both convergence and depth.

I recently bought a 120HZ 3D monitor. Going to 120HZ I was immediately able to tell a difference, even in simply dragging a window across the desktop. Shooters are just so fluid now. The 3D kit is very fun (I'm on a GTX580). Mafia 2, Metro 2033, and The Witcher 2 look particularly amazing. I even play Mount & Blade: Warband in 3D now, as now I can be accurately judge the distance and swinging arc of an enemy's blade. :)

I plan to replay my first RPG love, Morrowind, in 3D. I'm also going to replay STALKER.

Bring on RAGE, Battlefield 3, and Skyrim!

actually real men use a sony FW-900

im still pissed i let mine go

and yes i would run 1920x1200 on a 24 over whatever 16:9 on a 27 because i would never buy a 27, at that price point id go right for a 30 running 16:10

What kind of frame rates are you getting with Metro 2033, and how low do you have the quality settings?
