Nope.

i am really lazy and i will just quote my old article:

QUOTE]

Aaah, so I do need active, but just need a single link. Come to think of it, I have a Quadro card that came with four active single link DP to DVI adapters. Since I removed it a while ago, I completely forgot about the included adapters and that single link actives exist. But, they're full DP and not mini. I wonder if buying a miniDP->DP adapter for cheap then running it through the active DP->DVI converter would work.

I was just half-rehtorically asking if it'd mess with the active timings. I don't see why it would as it's a straight pin through, but hey, never know.

This would actually be a lot easier if I just stuck with my current HP plus 2 side monitors, seeing as how it has a native DP port and I already have a miniDP to DP cable that I use. I just can't use it with my existing active converters since it's male to male, and the converters are male DP to female DVI. Gender changers are $13 on Amazon, just as much as a mini to full converter. Monoprice has a converter for half that shipped, but it wont' get here for a week :p

i really don't know - i expect there would be no issues with a simple adapter.
- Monoprice is next day service for me

if only there was a 16:10 24" 120Hz display that had displayport, id buy it in a heartbeat

since single link dvi/hdmi doesnt have enough bandwidth, its either dual link dvi or nothing atm, why are monitor manufacturers trying to ignore dp? id rather have that than chunky dual link dvi cabling, not only that, DVI and VGA have had their EOL dates given, anyone buying DVI as a main port now is buying into the past

16x10 (1920x1200) is an obsolete, dead resolution. Get used to it buddy, unless you never want to upgrade your old monitor ever again. Really, I don't understand the hate for 16x9. There is hardly any practical difference.

As for the reason why displayport has not come into widespread acceptance, I quote this xkcd comic:

Dead? Maybe. Obsolete? No. It's infinitely better than 16:9 and the only reason it's not around is because of 1080P. I think there are still 2 or 3 16:10 24" around.

I bought a 30" dell and have still kept my 16:10 old 24" monitor simply because I know it's so hard to find.

Agreed. And I have 16:10 monitor. I just don't see why people make such a big deal about 120 pixels.

I was going to wait for the holiday season to see if 120hz monitor prices went down (and what new models might be out) but a situation presented itself where I was able to buy the Alienware Optix 23' for a decent price. I look forward to the world of 120hz gaming :)

Sorry for bumping a 5 day old thread, but I have to concede to apoppin. I think I've probably been (re)converted to 120Hz thanks to troubleshooting my video cards.

They were always running hot and I never could figure out why, till it suddenly dawned on me the basics of video card operation when I was playing Dead Island. I was pushing 200-400 FPS on average with vsync off, but for some reason never connected the fact that those 200-400 frames were still being rendered, displayed or not. I hadn't played with vsync on for most games in years. Popped on vsync, cards ran quiet and cool again. But, on my IPS display, that made most games unplayable due to input lag, and during on/off testing that I became acutely aware of screen tearing, which now began to annoy me.

So, enter ye old 120Hz monitor and vsync. Combine the two, and I'm now wondering if I was drugged when I first tested the 120hz monitor. Even double-buffer locked at 60FPS, it's a huge difference. I managed to keep the viewing angles OK without much in the way of distortion, though I still am kinda bummed on the colors (lacking proper saturation, and some minor banding/dithering). Hopefully when I stick a Spyder on it that'll bring it more in line. Aside from that, the only complaint I really have is the not-so-great backlight bleed, which is a symptom of this particular model vice a 120Hz TN panel.
