I'm WAYYYY too tolerant with people. There are so many times I want to beat the sh!t out of all my friends cause they are acting like idiots, or will not shut up, etc. Yet I continue to do nothing, thinking to myself why I dont hit them. I still dont have an answer.

I guess I just try to see how my action would make others feel when I act on it.

It varies on my mood. Also if I am pushed to far, I will let it out on someone. But I can say no half the time. took me a long time to reach that point

Yes I am too nice. I can say no once in a while but then I'm overcome with guilt.
With kids this is especially hard.

"No, sweetie, don't lick the electrical outlet-"
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!"

and they give you the 'I-am-SO-running-away-from-home' look.

Ahh well. Whaddaya do?

Wow, I was just gonna start a thread similar to this... I have already vowed to do no computer favors all next semester... I keep on forgetting that school is a good way to get out of things but I never use that trump card. This semester I have built 3 computers and done technical support on numerous others. I always say it's no trouble at all.

The worst is when you are in the middle of one favor and then they ask you to do several more... I was just upgrading the ram for a person then all of the sudden the ask if I can get a new HD for them and then do a complete fresh install of windows and then do a system transfer!!! Like an idiot I said yes, but I managed to get them to do the system transfer...

MFS4, go take a gander at your back in the mirror. (I know it's hard, that wierd neck twist thing)

Is the word WELCOME tattooed on it?

If no, stop being a doormat. For someone to walk all over you, you have to lay down first.

I've been having that problem, and the solution seems evident to me: Learn how to lie. My friend is a constant liar and I noticed that almost any favors people ask him to do, he'll make up some lie to get out of it. I think he has a good idea, so long as you can make good lies and don't forget them, you won't have to disappoint people.

And for people who aren't friends, dangerous, or wielding a gun, saying "No" shouldn't be a problem.

If anybody needs treatment for this affliction, I can can help. For a nominal fee you'll follow me around in my regular routine for a few days. After your time is up, either my gruff personality will have rubbed off on you or you'll be disgusted with humanity in general. Either way, you'll have has no problem saying "No" in the future.

:p

Actually, I usually do end up saying Yes. But not without putting up a good fight.

Hey GirlFriday, tell me when our group meets cause I think I need to join up also. I can never say no when extra work at worked need to be done, or when friends need something. I really need to learn to say no.

Yes, I have trouble telling people no.

I got a call the other week from a company selling windows or something. The girl on the phone was so blatantly flirting with me but I was loving it. In the end she somehow talked me into letting some representatives from the company come round to my house to show me a video of how ultraglade windows could improve my life.

Of course when these reps turned up I simply hid behind the sofa until they gave up. And no, I didn't feel guilty, I just felt lame.
