So, I gues binary math is pretty easy if you have aides for it. I stand by my statement that it is a pain unaided. I guess I am mathematically challenged but I have improved. Leave it to ATOT to cut someone down because they don't have the same skills as them. that has never happened before, right...

Same here. I love the hobby, I don't know if I'd like a career in the field, though.

No intention on making any money as far as computers are concerned.

Two things happened:

1) I had a job where I worked assembling and deploying computers in a school, during the summer, without air conditioning. Lousy, lousy job, and it taught me to hate computers.

2) College - I could no longer afford any upgrades or tinkering expenses, so interest waned even further.

Now I just want my PC to work as the reasonably-priced performance demon I built it to be.

Computers for me used to be fun and all but I have other things that I see as a hobby now. Computers - for work and very little play (Shopping)

As a freshman in HS I thought I'd be interested in them, and I thought I'd pursue CS or EE or something in college. Then I realized they weren't that interesting and I would suck at those fields anyway, so now I'm preparing to go off to college and study economics. I wouldn't say I was ever passionate about them.

My passion has waned a lot. Before I was always on top of the latest Hardware, whether I was going to get it or could afford it or not. Nowadays I only pay attention when something dies or acting abnormally. I'll look at the occasional review, skipping all the chatter and go straight to the charts. I don't care anymore how something works, I just want to know how it performs.

Not anymore and I haven't been for the last 4 years or so. Back in the mid 90's I use to build them for profit, now days I hate even opening up the case.

The passion has died for me as well, especially since I no longer work in that field. I also used to build them for profit, but it's just not worth doing now. I did just upgrade though, and for the first time, I might keep my old parts, instead of going though the hassle of trying to sell them. I haven't even tried to overclock this rig, and that's just sad.

hehe my bro is the exact same way. He built them for 4 years as a side business. Last few years since he's quit he doesn't know a thing about them anymore.

A year, or even two ago, I loved them. Loved upgrading, working on them, overclocking, the whole shebang.

Now I don't even want to open the case, or buy any new parts to install.

Reason why I ask.

I was reading through "Operating Systems" like taking a break from cleaning.

People dissing off Windows or Linux.

I just said whatever. Who cares really.

I'm firmly in the boat "Couldn't care less about them".

While I am still "into" computers and love using them all the time, I could care less about arguing about the merits of linux vs. windows on an internet forum full of strangers.

Back in highschool and early college I was into building computers and having all the latest hardware. About halfway through college I sold all my desktops for drinking money, and have been using the same laptop ever since (4 years now). I don't think i've played a computer game since.

I sit and stare at a computer most of the day at work. When I get home, using a computer is about the last thing I want to do.

Absolutely, but my main interest lies in collecting and archiving media with them and networking all of my appliances so that I can have access to my hoard 24/7. I love buying new parts and drives but my interest in making a bleeding fast machine has waned as I simply no longer need to have something that powerful to do what I need or want to.

I'm not passionate about hardware, building computers, anything like that. I never have been.

I am passionate about the work I do though, which involves computers.
