Are you smarter than the average person?

I have a higher IQ than the median, but it doesn't mean much. I don't think random attributes falling in the range of "everyday" are worth bragging about. Keep in mind that out of every 100 people, on average 2 are qualified to become members of mensa. I don't know about you but that doesn't seem very l33t to me 🙂.

Bodily kinasthetic - average
artitistic - below average
Musical - average
mathmatical/logic - above average
Verbal-Linguistic - above average
Spatial - above average
Interpersonal - average
Intrapersonal - above average
Naturalist - ??

Like Sokrates said when an Oracle of somekind said that his the wizest guy on the planet: "Im the wizest because I know that Im not wise." or something like that.

ahh, someone around here finally gets it. 🙂

Naturalist is the odd one, it is defined as soemone who is understanding nature, making distinctions, identifying flora and fauna.

Mine would be ;

Bodily kinasthetic - average - above
artitistic - average
Musical - average
mathmatical/logic - v. good
Verbal-Linguistic - above average
Spatial - v.good
Interpersonal - below average
Intrapersonal - above average
Naturalist - way way low

I have slight asbergers (high level autism) so I have problems with fine motor skills - but my hand to eye coordination / reflexes are good. Unfortunately my Interpersonal skills can sometimes be lacking, I have problems detecting peoples emotions - might be why I got into so many fights at school. My artistic skills relate to problems being truly creative, I can copy to a high level of accuracy, but have difficulty with my own ideas. Oddly enough I became a (8-11yrs) teacher after several years as a mech/design engineer, I get on quite well with younger children (same sense of humour).

Unlike some, I'm smart enough to realize that the number of instances of incorrect grammar or misspelled words in your post is not necessarily inversely proportional to your level of intelligence.

It's a forum guys, not an academic paper.
and just becuz i choose not to care if i capitalize everything correctly or start a sentence with and; or mispelllll a wurd, dont mene i aint a freakin jenious.

Yeah, I'm smarter than the average person.
I base that on the fact that people have always told me how smart I am, the fact that I always got A's in school (if I bothered going to class and turning in my homework), enjoyed discrete mathematical structures and O chem, and the fact that I scored better than 95% of my classmates on the SAT's.

But I'm definitely either the smartest of the dumb or the dumbest of the smart as BingBong put it. I always wished I had been a true genius.

Just wondering if everyone hear is "smart"?

I'm smarter than you because I know when to use here and hear properly.
But unoriginal enough to post the same reply that was already made.

I found the definitions for all the terms here: http://www.chariho.k12.ri.us/curriculum/MISmart/mi_smart.htm[/b

Verbal/Linguistic - "Word Smart" -> EXCELLENT
Logical/Mathematical - "Math Smart" -> VERY GOOD
Musical/Rhythmic - "Music Smart" -> ABOVE AVERAGE
Bodily/Kinesthetic - "Body Smart" -> GOOD
Visual/Spatial - "Art Smart" -> ABOVE AVERAGE
Naturalist - "Nature Smart" -> POOR
Intrapersonal - "Self Smart" -> EXCELLENT
Interpersonal - "People Smart" -> VERY GOOD
Existential - "Wondering Smart" -> EXCELLENT

I used to be incredible with numbers, and it seems that it's since turned more towards verbal intelligence and interpersonal skills. I like to think of myself as a fair bit smarter than most people I meet, but mostly just "less ignorant." I wouldn't consider myself a "genius" in any respect but last time I did an "approved" IQ test it was above 130.

I should get it checked again and see if I can join Mensa. 😛

The notion of multiple intelligences is a pop culture theory and not accepted by most pschometricians. The university researchers of intelligence are almost completely unified in their belief in a general intelligence quotient, or g factor. The multiple intelligence theory tends to make people feel good, but the research shows that intelligence in one area is highly correlated to intelligence in other areas.

I'd say there is still quite a bit of disagreement on this. People certainly have strengths and weaknesses in different areas.
