Are you smarter than the average Anandtecher?

Anyone who was able to figure out how to change their avatar without any help. Not that I condone that sort of thing.

If I recall correctly, when the first thread appeared about .999... = 1, I was in the minority (it's exactly equal to 1). There was a poll and the majority said it was less than one. Then, when the treadmill/plane problem originally popped up, I was the first to answer it correctly here. And again, a majority of the people got that wrong. Given that I am married and have children, that pretty much confirms that I'm not completely inept when it comes to interactions with the opposite sex. Thus, I submit this as evidence that indeed, I AM smarter than the average poster here.

It really depends on the situation or subject. I would have to say average or below average in intelligence, because there really are a lot of brilliant people here.

The Doctor of Pizza is smarter than I am, for instance.

Hard to say, there are some pretty smart people here but I have no idea what the average is.

Does the plane take off? Does .999... = 1? If you answer yes to both questions AND can explain why using basic math and physics concepts, then YES, you are above average. In other words, the bar is pretty low. 😛

For me, this only proves that a person is educated - not necessarily smart.

Incorrect. The user known as letdown427 was the first to post the correct answer.

are we including P&N? If so, then god yes.

Even if you threw in one room the smartest scientists, most brilliant politicians, and successful businessmen on the planet and told them to discuss the latest and greatest issues, it wouldn't take even 10 minutes before they wound up arguing at the basest levels seen in AT P&N.

Of course, that would be a "real life" situation, and everyone would be dead in the room after 15 minutes. Be thankful P&N is digital.

Damn im the only other one who voted no?

Am I the only one here who likes to skew the ATOT polls?

I voted no as well. 🙁

I suck at math, I'm going to school for Graphic Design, and I don't have a lot of money.
