are you smarter or dumber than your parents?

All kids are smarter than their parents. I thought that was obvious? The fact that they come around to the same conclusions later in life is a result of the dumbing down that comes with old age.
 
about the same. we are all pretty smart. my parents have a better work ethic than i do though. 😛
 
My father has 2 bachelor's from MIT and got a MBA from Sloan (MIT's business school). He's much smarter than I am, or at the very least harder working.

your parents could be billionaires who know how to make money, but you can do all of that better and so much more.

Ditto...my dad worked for 30 years on every aspect of the water system for southern AZ and in his spare time has raced horses for all of his life. So he knows more about water and horses than I will ever know. But at the same time he has trouble working a computer and if I don't bookmark a website for him its unlikely he would ever be able to find it again.
 
About the same, they may be a bit smarter. I started making good decisions earlier in life than they did but that's a result of good parenting and learning from their mistakes.
 
My mom and dad are both very smart and highly educated. My mom and I may be of equal intelligence, but my father is probably the smartest person I've ever met. We have both taken the same IQ test, and even though I scored pretty high, I feel really stupid around him.
 
I'd say I'm smart in some ways such as technology, but they might be smarter in other ways, such as life things. Like, think my mom finished school in high school, and my dad dropped out like, in elementary. So education wise I most likely know more, but for the stuff that really matter in life, such as finances, cleaning, doing laundry, raising kids, marriage related stuff, etc they most likely know way more then me from experience. Those are all things I have to eventually learn how to do.
 
intelligence != knowledge != work ethic != wealth potential

For me, I think I'm a little smarter than they were. Mom was much smarter than she let on but she suppressed it like many wives of that era.
 
I am certainly better educated and, about many things, more knowledgeable. However, I am not sure if I am currently "smarter" than my parents when they were my age. Their brains seemed to work just as well as mine back then.
