They started out on fire and occassionally still have some outstanding deals, but as an email subscriber to these, they sure have a bunch of cr@p.

Facials, messages, dentistry, laser lipo treatments, hiphop lessons....yada yada yada. Not to mention the national deals for website stuff that most would never purchase, like overpriced wall decals for kids room etc.

Once in a while they have some decent local restaurants, but most food options around here are only mediocre (except for some ice cream/froyo discounts.)

I think this extremely watered down trend can die now.

I signed up for living social. Ever since then, I've been getting daily emails for 5-10 different daily deal sites.

Might set up a throwaway email to try it. The commercials are getting annoying though.

Hell no. Drinking a sixer of Two Hearted today that was free thanks to the recent Living Social Whole Foods Market $10 for $20 deal.

Groupon deals were always 'meh', if not outright shady. When they started going belly up and sued by their own sales people, I was not surprised at all. Boiler room is boiler room, even if you call it something else.

LivingSocial started out pretty good: I got the famous Amazon $10 for $20, then a rafting 1/2 off, and finally Whole Foods $10 for $20. Rafting was indeed half off the real price, not some BS, and my wife and I had incredible fun. Amazon and WF are also legit. I would have used LivingSocial more, but right now we simply do not have time to take advantage of Mendocino getaway deals they offer. So, thumbs up for LivingSocial.

Overall, however, since Yelp, SFGate and your grandmother started sending out these deals, the quality went definitely downhill. Vendors realized they are not getting quality traffic: most people are in for 1 deal and out when stuff returns to regular price. And vendors that work on a low margin to begin with were never interested in the first place.

I finally signed to get the Living Social $10 for $20 Whole Foods deal. I've been monitoring the junk deals that flood my email since and it's only confirming my bias that these sites are poster boy for Internet Bubble Scam 2.0. These sites would be lucky to have valuation in the hundreds of million. The billions valuation given to Groupon is beyond ridiculous and complete joke and its insiders know it. It's why Groupon Ceo and founders are busy swapping the fake monopoly money into real ones by buying buildings, properties, and other real assets.

I find Slickdeals far more useful and they don't spam my mailbox with daily crap.

I'm pretty fed up with every other "deal" being a spa or facial.

Give me a break Groupon ... there's a reason why I am NOT taking advantage of your "deals".

I don't expect to like most of the deals... so no, it doesn't bother me.

Maybe it can be improved by it learning what you like over time, or you can disable categories.

It's hard to get tired of something that gives me free money to places I would be going anyway.

Not really tired of it, I just don't used it. 95% of the stuff Groupon sent me for my area was facials, spas, massages or crap that was so expensive I couldn't afford it with a discount. I stopped receiving their emails.
