Are you scared when you see guards with AK47 at the airport?

Because of the recent foiled terror plot, the security is a lot tighter at the airports. There are a lot more guards with AK47s (M4 is too expansive for everyone to have). Do you get scared when you walk pass one? What if the gun misfires and you got shot?

Edit: Another question, would you die if you get shot in the face by an AK47?

Back before HK was returned to China, the direct point of entry from HK->China was patrolled by a buttload of guards with AKs. In fact almost everybody had one (or some other weapon, but mostly AKs), even the guy stamping my US passport. Felt kinda odd, but yet cool.

Edit: Nowadays, I've seen guards at Logan Intl carrying MP5s with suppressors and huge body armor--rather intimidating.

Assuming you are talking about the U.S. Not it doesn't bother me....except that last I heard AKs aren't issued to U.S. troops.

Normally, basic security guards don't have a round chambered. Hell, even gate guards on army bases only have a round chambered under FPCON Charlie. So the chances of misfire are slim.

According to the profile, he's not talking about the US.

I am more scared that people actually believe that a gun will misfire and go off just by someone walking past it. That type of ignorance astounds me.

You obviously know Jack Sh1t about guns, and Jack left town.

Well, when you have your "state" as Guam in the country of Afghanistan....I tend to take the profile with a grain of salt.

I would feel better in the airport knowing it is the guards with the guns and not some wackjob terrorist.

to answer the second question, you would probably die if you got shot in the face with an AK-47.

Unless you could catch the bullets in your teeth...

Ive never seen a US equipped SWAT/National Guard/Police Officer with an AK47... I dont think you have a clue about guns..

here in the US standard issue is M4/M15-A4/M16 variant or an MP5 variant..
now if you live in a 3rd world country or any of the former Iron Curtain countries then yes AK-47 and 74s would be very common.

I would be sitting there (preferably hiding behind something safe) waiting for the Terrorist to storm in for real life Counter-Strike....
