What exactly are you trying to accomplish by quoting random posts and adding nothing? Are you trying to signify your support for their sentiment?

"thirded"

Coming from you, Nick1985? Are you a convert? I remember your thread where you asked something about Blacks wanting to be called "African-Americans" instead of "Blacks". The thread got locked for a reason. Are you a new convert now, or is it just a pay back? Uhmm. . . . :p

"How many people who speak Ebonics can also speak proper English if need be?

How many mainstream managers/middle managers speak Ebonics?"

Cyberian, your questions are irrelevant, since the question is about Blacks using Ebonics as an informal language. The reason I asked was because some members were criticising educated Blacks for using it informally.

Nevertheless, McCarthy's and your question warrants the following response:

It is not parents or adults speaking a dialect or foreign language at home that makes kids illiterates. It is poor educational system or lack thereof. There are many kids of immigrants that have to communicate with their parents in their native languages. They also hear adults speak in those languages during social gatherings of their parents' choosing. In spite of that, the children still end up speaking perfect English. The reason is, they receive good education and interact with children of their age groups that speak English. At the end, they're able to speak proper English and dialects or foreign languages.

Not quite. She'd undoubtedly post pics of herself in the event that this thread had garnered her full attention.

Ebonics is a cultural artifact of ignorance, nothing else.

Explain some more.
Not sure if this is what he meant by it, but I agree with the statement and the reason being ebonics is poorly taught english. It's like written english and a person misusing the word your when they need to use you're. Ebonics is just that in verbal format and taken to a whole new level. It's just a bastardized, incorrect, form of English. English does mature and go off on tangents, and you can see that american and UK english are different, so you can claim in some ways that ebonics is a legitimate version of english, but it's not going to get you a job. It's mistaught, poorly constructed english.

ebonics is like an accent.

me personally, I don't think that ebonics exist. I think that if they wanted to speak correctly, they could. They hang around their homies and that's how they begin to speak. It's a habit they get into.

Be realistic people. I just hate (or scared) those who are roudy and luod. did I mention annoying (those annoy types that you see in the mall that think they're hip-hop superstars.) and from what I've seen so far, most of them are black. My comments might seem racist but I know most of yall would agree with me but afraid that if you say it then you'll be racist. Well, I'm not racist just realistic.

I think this is right on with how most people really feel. I've been to the movies and there are black kids sitting behind me who just talk so loud all during the whole movie and no one in the theater tells them to shut up or gets a theater attendant because they don't want any problems with black kids. And yesterday I was at a burger place and a black guy cut in line in front of everyone and no one said anything. Lots of people are scared of blacks. Its just the idea that its better to let them get away with things rather than start a problem because people think blacks are always ready to make problems.
I think its because black people always feel like the victim and theyre used to fighting to get what they want. They've been put down for so long in this country that their natural response is to fight back even when no one is really trying to do anything to them. I mean theyve conditioned themselves to being victims and it affects the way they treat others and the type of attitude that they have around alot of people in different races.
I think the above post shows how alot of people really feel; scared of blacks because of stereotypes and appearances and also scared to tell how they really feel about race because they don't want to offend anyone or look like a racist.

May we dance wit yo dates?

As a white male who has been targeted for violence expressly because of my race by young black males, my answer would be yes, I am afraid of them. Sorry, all of the lovie-dubbie peacnik talk that those people do not represent all blacks does not matter one bit when I have to drive through ghettos every day and feel the need to lock my doors at stoplights.

It's a totally different thing if I'm at a neutral site and they aren't dressed like thugs.

Topics like this make me afraid for them, not of them.

I'm afraid of anyone that looks like they're ready to attack me with a weapon.
That applies to all races, ages, genders etc..

I grew up not learning black people were 'different' and I was sociallized a lot as a kid (sports, functions, etc)....however a lot of my white friends do have an unnatural fear of black people, and a lot of my black friends know white people are afraid of them....when we prank called people as kids the 'black' guy always had people trying to plea bargain with him while the 'white' guys would just get the 'click'.
