Yep I am. Most of the other races around me in my neck of teh woods feel they deserve everything for nothing. They can call me cracker, whitey, but I can't call tehm any name. They can have a big FU. They act like the names they've deserved.

On the other hand my g/f is part beloved patriot and I have some real good friends that are beaners that can speak english.

Everybody's racist. /thread

No shit. Anybody voting "No" is a liar or delusional.

i can say pretty honestly that im not racist. i am a mex/ german half breed that was raised by my german mom and a black stepdad. lived in soouth phoenix, went to a school that was predominantly black and mexican. there were more native americans than white people there. i didnt get abused by people, or singled out for being white at all. i moved to a rich school in tempe fro high school (kids drove better cars than most adults do) and still didnt get messed with really. i was still poor, just lived in a better neighborhood. i still dont jump to conclusions based on color or appearance, and im just as likely to talk to anyone that approaches me in a public place.

i voted no. im pretty sure im not a racist.

Denial is the first stage.

lol if i were in denial id never know. either way, i cant be baited by the likes of you. i know how i am, and i can be honest about it. this isnt the first time in introspected on it, when you have 3 kids that ask questions about racism and why it happens to people.

If you can call Mexicans "Beaners," why can't we call black people "Chickeners or watermeloners or the "N" word?"

I live in Kahleeforneeya, and "beloved patriot" is considered to be VERY offensive...

(my FIL used to call them "pepper-bellies.") :D

if by racist you mean that i recognize race and quite possibly stereotype people without knowing them personally, then yes. if you mean racist as in a faithfully hate a certain race of people, no.

I voted yes.

Because if I went to prison and had to sit next to white dudes or black dudes, I'd feel more comfortable around the white dudes. I'm white.

I also don't like Jews much, because for only 1% of the worlds population, they seem to have alot of cash and power, and yet the white men are still paying for their country. And if I don't like it, I'm anti semite and a racist.

Yup! I'm a racist. I even voted YES!

I stopped going to new movies on release night because of the legions of black people that would, without fail, be loud and obscene throughout the entire movie. Every single time I went.

Does that make me racist? I don't know. But I loathe them for it.

Racism a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.

By this definition, no I'm not racist. I don't think any race has any inherent superiority over another. Anyone who is proud of the race they were born into, something they have no control over, is an asshat.

However, I recognize that certain people are more likely to have negative traits than others. It's not because of their race, it's because of how they grew up.

Are Jews a race? I figure to be racist against someone they have to be someone you can identify by sight. Otherwise where's the fun? Most of us tend to blend in. It's probably the main reason we haven't been completely annihilated. Oh, and it's 0.2% of the world's pop. Amazing what a culture that puts a strong focus on scholarship can accomplish after thousands of years.

Actually, the thing I find really funny is that the most racist and judgmental people I know are Unitarian Universalists - a philosophy that preaches tolerance and acceptance.

Many blacks even know enough to be on guard in a black neighborhood. Jesse Jackson himself said it's a shame that when he was once walking down an empty sidewalk at night and heard footsteps behind him, he was personally relieved to turn around and see a white face. Even the most liberal PC types will throw their wishy washy ideals about race relations out the window when it comes to guarding their own personal safety or the safety of their loved ones. Granted it probably has more to do with perceived social class, but one cannot deny the link between black people and the poorer class. It's human nature to stereotype.

I'm not a racist, but I'm also not afraid to tell it like it is. Of course, some liberal loonybins would call that racist when it's not.

It really does not matter what I think the reason is - does anyone really know for sure?

However, gamepad put it out there like there is one obvious, well-known and settled-upon reason that can be learned from a history class.

So, gamepad, what is the reason we will find by taking a history class?

it's kind of hard not to considering where i live. i know many really nice Arabs. yet despite this, we all subconsciously avoid them. isn't that racism?

Eh, after visiting Cairo I think I'd feel 10x safer there than I would going to south or westside Chicago or the ghettos of LA. I guess Cairo isn't exactly "Arab" but most Americans probably couldn't tell the difference. In fact, everyone there seemed very nice despite how poor most of them were. I'd say my only real prejudice is against people who dress like thugs. That itself is a stereotype though.

As a first generation immigrant, I honestly can say that I am not a racist in a sense of "my race/my people/myself/ect are better than.....xyz race or them people/fill in the blank race".

I don't care if a person is black/white/purple/green/whatever or straight/gay/bi/fat/skinny/tall/short/whatever as long as she or he treats me well as a person and be fair with me.

I can't stand ignorance/stupidity/generalize/stereotype.

I want to know what gamepad was referring to without any hints from the peanut gallery.

Once we are sure of his position, then we will be able to intelligently discuss the subject. Before that, we are both just speculating.

Right, because it's so difficult to figure out which moment in history put blacks at a disadvantage.
