Just remember not to bring the knife to a gun fight. ;)

Dude, I'm so stealth it's not even funny. This is how I see it going down. I hear the intruder break in and quickly but absolutely silently grab my sword from under the bed. I use my ninja skills to steathly (is that even a word?) move to my hallway and position myself Jean Claude Van Damme splits style over the hallway entrance. Then when the intruder passes right under me, BAM! I come down and split him in two Mortal Kombat style. And then I hear a voice say, FATALITY.

Yeah, that's about right. :)

Yep. Texas is NOT the place to mess with other people's property.

Exactly. And that's how it should be. Don't fvck with people's sh!t. Jesus Christ, is that so hard to do? ESPECIALLY when it's inside someone's home.

I wouldn't shoot anyone unless they were actually possing harm. I don't have a gun and I am not paranoid like most gun owners.

I am prepared to shoot and shoot to kill any and all intruders that enter my home. However this doesn't mean that I prowl my house at night with a loaded .357 Magnum in hand.

Fortunately, I have never had misfortune of being robbed. However if I where to catch an intruder in my house (lets assume I caught him red handed by turning lights on) I would attempt first to use the gun as a power chip. Something along the lines of hold him at gunpoint, until the police arrived. This being said, if he had a gun, knife, bat, or any other weapon and if he made any move to use his weapon, I would, without hesitation defend myself. I hope I'll be able to go through life without ever having to shoot anyone, however I'll be ready to do so if the need ever arises.

My kids will be schooled in the proper handling of firearms and I'll make sure they understand the meaning of the phrase "Guns do not kill people, people do."

agreed :p

It is sooo not paranoia. Even if there's only a one in a million chance that you could get killed by a trespasser breaking into your home then that's enough reason to be prepared for it.

It's your life, you only get one as far as we know. It's your family's life, they only get one as far as we know. Some people are willing to kill in order to avoid jail. Your house might be the next one they choose.

Guns aren't radioactive and they can't go off by themselves when they are kept separate from the ammunition. Owning a gun != paranoia. I'd equate it more with wearing a seatbelt while driving, or keeping a life preserver in a boat.
