Are you playing any old games?

I decided to load Medal of Honor: Allied Assasult this evening on my PC. It's been quite a long time since I played this game. I remember I loved it the first time through.

I was wondering if anyone is playing any old game? I realize a lot of good new games are out but once in while it's feels great to go and re-play the old ones. 🙂

I play old games regularly, usually at the same time as more recent titles.

My last one was Freedom Force, which I was playing for the first time. Great story and atmosphere, although the actual gameplay was somewhat flawed. I liked it enough that I want to play the sequel though.

Do those old shooters have updated mods, or did they not build the capability into those games back then? It'd be really fun to play new missions and maps (not multiplayer). I play civ 4, and some of the stuff people have done is amazing.

I was playing through MOHAA just a few months ago, took a break from it to play Fallout 1. 😉

Sniper map = insane if one does not like saving / reloading constantly.

I remember those levels. The forest one was especially brutal on the highest difficulty. The very last part where you escape from the bunker was probably even harder.

How about Command and Conquer, the original ? I just finished the GDI campaign for the bzillionth time.

Heh that game is unbelieveably tough! Its a shame most RTS games today are a total cakewalk by comparison.

Was playing XCOM: UFO Defense a month ago but now playing Hearts of Iron 2: Doomsday, 2006 game, with the addon Armageddon.

I still play SC. with a recent patch, all the zerg players got waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay easier to kill, its almost pathetic 😉

I thought the original was actually pretty easy. The tough one was the Covert Missions expansion. I played those missions over and over again trying different ways to win!

They both had some tricky missions, especially the limited force ones. The hardest one of them all was probably Blindsided in the expansion pack, but I remember some of the Nod campaign ones being pretty tough too.

They were hard in a "good" way though, as you often had to think of clever tactics to trick the AI and get through situations, which made them all the more satisfying to complete.

i play a lot of older stuff. UT, Diablo II, SC, Sim Tower 😛

and of course, tecmo super bowl on my NES emulator

I think I've played Deus Ex like 3 different times. Bought it, sold it, bought it, sold it, and may buy it again.

And if you want some older but still great games, check my sig. (Never miss an opportunity to pimp your wares 😀)

Always.

I play Doom II and jDoom, Hexen, Shadow Man, Natural Selection, Tiberian Sun, Diablo II, Age of Empires II, and many others. I don't play them regularly, but certainly occasionally.

Yeah, I guess you are right. I actually played through Covert Missions before the regular campaign, so that may be why I felt the way I did. (I already had to learn most of the tricks to get through before playing the game, so I kind of already knew what to do first.) I do think that the dinosaur missions were pretty hard though!

I played thru fear not to long ago.I need to pick up some older games so I can stay busy.
I need to go and get cod2.I loved that game on the 360 so I am sure I will be really happy playing it on pc

Steam is your friend. Probably 10 bucks on there.

I'm playing through Blood on my own invented "hardcore mode", taken from Diablo 2. I have to complete an episode on the hardest difficulty, Extra Crispy, without dying or saving and loading (except for proofsaving against crashes). Else I have to start over.

It's very hard. Nigh impossible without using some clever tactics and knowing at least a fair amount of secrets. But doing it this way reveals that the gameplay is pretty advanced. All the weapons have a purpose and only some secondary attacks are useless. Currently I've finished the first four, with five and six left. Took a lot of tries.

Once a year I always do a play through COD1 and the awesome expansion COD:UO
I just played Baulders Gate 2 again.
Starcraft of course.
I always do a sandbox game of all the old Roller Coaster Tycoon games. Those are so damn fun.
Lest I forget HalfLife.
