Are you lactose intolerant?

Who else here is lactose intolerant. From my understanding, it's a problem that develops as one ages. I use to drink milk like water (2-3 gallons per week while on my steak a day diet many years ago). And I've heard it mostly affects asians cuz our inards seem to lack the ability to digest lactose after those first few years.

I mean if you think about it. Humans are the only ones that still want to drink that stuff after they have their teeth in. What's up with that?

I just wanted to get a general consensus of race versus lactose intolerance.

And if you have some funny comments about your bowels burping, those are always welcome.😀

Edit: Is that better now those of you who didn't like the caps? Also couldn't get the poll thingy to work out so it's no longer a poll.....

Oddly enough, I used to be. I had to drink that lactose free milk and stuff for about 2 years, then kind of eased back into regular dairy, and all was well. Very confusing.

I knew I clicked on it. How do I correct this?

EDIT: Anyone know how to get the poll going after it's sent out without polling set up? Tried to do that edit thing but it doesn't work.

EDIT: For now, not polling I guess......

I'm 26, Irish/English (and 1/16th Amer.Indian, which might be significant to your stats), lactose-intolerant since 9th grade. Before that, no problems except for some digestion problems as an infant.

Mildly....cheese, and only some cheese about kills me! The problen is that I can eat it at times and other times it makes me very ill. I have no problem with ice cream and none with milk as long as I only ingest 8 or 10 ounces.

BTW, Milk is STILL one of the best and most healthful drinks around....espicially low-fat or skim...no matter the absolut crapola various vegetarian groups peddle as facts.

This was an odd post for ma as I just got home...3 hours late!

Saturday I was on the run and ate a McD's cheese burger. Sat night we made taco salad...more cheese. Sun morning before I went to work, I ate the leftovers in an omelet....more cheese.

This morning, I woke up at 1:30 AM ans was hurtin fer certin! I spent the next 4 hours mostly on the toiley and after getting loaded at 5:30, didn't pass a rest area in 600 miles.....that I didn't stop at!

This probably wasn't lactose intolerance.... Cheese has almost zero lactose in it... You're probably allergic to Rennet, or perhaps even food coloring.

Yes I am, and it totally sucks. The only real thing that I miss is Ice Cream. I can eat yougart and cheese and stuff like that. Good thing that they make some frozen yougart that tastes as good as ice cream.

I'll check that out! I've told my Family Physician about this, but he said to jusy avoid the foods that give the problem. Sometimes, milk will give me the same symptoms and in fact that was my first clue. I had a habit of drinking a glass of milk at lunch...and getting ill a couple hours later.

However, sometimes I'm fine and other times get deathly [feels that way!] ill. I can't eat nuts either.

Thanks for the info!
