I like them, I dont have any myself. My wife got one 6 months ago (made a thread about it) of Pooh hanging by 4 balloons 2 pink 2 blue representing our two daughters, our son and me.

I guess i like the ones picture something that means something to the person wearing it. The ones i cant stand are the oriental characters on the back of a white boys neck.... I just dont get that.

There is old person here at work. Shes around 45. She got tattoos around her ankles and that thing above the asscrack. Again, she's 45 and it looks like sh!t. She wears low rise capri's to show them off, ugh. Again, she's 45. Getting a tattoo cool now, but later, you might regret it.

A lot of kids see it as an accessory, nothing more.

Now, if it held a special meaning, like if you were in the militray, prison, or the yakuza, then I'd totally dig it - hell, if I was in any of those three (and I ain't planning on it), then I'd prolly have on on me somewhere . . ..

But as far as personalizing, customizing, beautifying your body with it, I think it's totally crap - first, the skin tone isn't exactly the best canvas for colors, so they all have this ugly hue about them, and a lot of times the artists aren't that good (hell, I could do a better job and I ain't good at all), and people start regretting getting them done leter on in their life . . ..

Yeah but it is a permanent accessory. Not to mention a complete waste of money.

I don't have any tattoos and I know for a fact that 10 or 20 years from now that I would regret doing it if I did.

Which tribe are you a member of? 🙂

I like the tattoo on a girl's small of her back because it means she's a dirty girl in bed.

Does Mrs Skoorb have a tat there? 😀

A complete waste of money to you, but I consider mine an investment and a story for myself on my body. Just because you don't enjoy the style or substance of it, doesn't mean it's a waste. I could say the same thing for numerous things people waste money on.

eh, they can be tasteful. a little tattoo on the ankle can be sweet.

Full trad style sleeves on a girl = me weak in da knees.

I hope you never meet my wife then.
As far as me I have 7 but I grew up with them, my dad has about 20 total b.t.w he was an investment banker and pulled in more in a year than all the people on the board complaining about career advancement.

I say get them but have them mean something to you, I may not totally feel each one like I used to but they remind me of how I got to wear I am now.

i dont mind them. im planning on getting ink'd one day, but im thinking about what to get. but it will defintely be something i illustrate myself, and it will have meaning, because it will be my work of art and something i originally created, and i will constantly be reminded of it and appreciate what i accomplished. i definetly dont want anything that comes from a book in the parlor, or something on the wall there, and also, im avoiding chinese characters, or tribals. and ill just get something on my upper arm or something, out of sight so my job wont raise a fuss. so, there ya go.

i agree with some of the posts here and disagree with others...

a tattoo should be personal and i would hate to hear of someone getting a generic tattoo (i.e. the samples shown in the books) for the "cool" factor. i got my tattoo in my senior year of college, at Fun City Tattoo (very well known place on St. Marks Place). It has religious significance for me and is definately unique (they've never seen the symbol before). the tattoo is on my left shoulder blade. its tasteful and i have had no regrets (probably something like 1-2 years old now). In the future I might consider another tattoo on my left deltoid, but thats as far as i would go.

getting a tattoo is a very serious decision to make as you have to live with it for the rest of your life. i took a lot of time deciding the symbol i wanted and the location (as well as the size). its also important to go to someone you can trust (i.e. well known and has had a good amt of experience).

i think a tasteful and unique tattoo on a woman can be very attractive....

I'm kind of reluctatnt to get a tatoo just because i know my taste in things change. Gonna regret getting that "F the world" tatoo when my 4 year old son asks me what F stands for

Oh all you people that are concerned about what it will look like when you are 75 are weak. You are using that as crutch. Who the fcvk cares what you look like at 75, do you think old people care if you don't like them, of course not.

I wouldnt expect much from a Seattlellite(P-town > Seattle), besides there are plenty of women that look like that in your neck of the woods.

Ouch man, ouch 😉

I really don't pay much attention to many of the girls at shows (that whole jealous girlfriend bit), but I'd say on average most of them here aren't pasty, but instead are wafer thin, have the same haircut, and have the same stupid attitude. As far as Ptown over Seattle, ha! Seattle beats P-Town hands down.

I don't have any but not b/c of career advancement worries. I just don't know of any image or text that I want on my body for the rest of my life. A lot of ink gets absorbed into your blood too, and that bothers me. Some crazy high number of tats are eventually removed or covered, way more than half of them.
