sure, but do you you really think, even for a moment, that that kind of revolutionary innovation is gonna come from... Microsoft? We're talking about a company that has stolen or copied almost every product it sells. Google created something new. One day, something/ someone will replace Google, but it won't be produced by microsoft.

Even if we assume that this is true (which it isn't) it's not relevant. Bing doesn't look to be revolutionary, in the same way that Google was never a revolutionary product. Innovation does not imply revolution, and Bing looks like an evolution of search in the same way that Google was an evolution of the poor search already around.

You may argue that MS has never released a revolutionary product (I disagree) but you'd have to be blind to miss the massive innovation in the company that has lead to the many successful products the have released. So I'm willing to concede that it's highly unlikely that Bing is a revolutionary product, but I've never seen anyone claim that it will be. Will it be an evolutionary improvement over currently available search products, worthy of using in lieu of Google? We'll see in a few days I suppose.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't backrub their idea? And that was pretty damn innovative.

Microsoft needs to start over with their online stuff. Too much clutter and too little useful things.

It looks like the copied a lot of Google's ideas. To be fair though, Google's implementations are awful for lots of things. For example, Froogle is just pure garbage.

The name sounds too much like bling, which automatically makes me want to avoid it.

The name annoys the piss out of me.

Maybe because it causes flashbacks of the old Friends episode where Chandler's boss would slap his ass and yell "Bing!!"

It's up! I gotta admit, I love Bing so far from what I've played around with.

Microsoft recognised that there was a brand issue as the word "Live" continued to remain in the brand. As an effort to create a new identity for Microsoft's search services, on June 3, 2009, Live Search will be officially replaced by Bing.

So Bing is nothing more than a repackaged Live Search...

awesome... "people dont like the name of our product.. so lets call it something different"

Exactly, I honestly wasn't too impressed with that video clip

OK I just tried it, right before I saw this thread I googled "get rid of crew member godfather 2" and Google got me the answer on the first result. Bing doesn't even have anything remotely close on the first page (same with Live.com)

Ugh. I typically love a lot of Microsoft products, but this search engine is horrible. I reiterated a search from a couple of days ago, "PHP calendar form entry". Two of the top 4 results is about British gymnastics, and only 2 in the top 10 that have anything to do with php. Google gives me MUCH more relevant searches at this point.

Just did a search for "Blue Water haul line" on both Bing and Google and the Bing search was nearly useless.

Should have kept the name Kumo, at least it would have had a good name.

I must say though, I do like the page layout and general functionality. Maybe I'll bounce a few searches off of it when Google is giving me a hard time.
