Huge wars are starting, guild towns are being attacked all the time. There's a 4 hour time limit for a siege, currently there is a lot of hand holding in the game with huge alliances. We have been attacked by over a 100 people, they killed the bank 2 times so far. It costs a lot of resources to get the bank fixed, it's not very easy to get siege equipment as some of the ingrediants for making them are pretty rare. The harvesting changes have made big changes in the game, people are no longer stuck to their city's or the n00b citys.

Oh also, they have fixed the queueu issues, it does not take 4 hours to log in any more, more like 30 seconds. The travel in the game is slow , it took almost an hour if not more to get from the 1 end of the map to the other.Map of Darkfall

I waited on this game so long that I outgrew my desire to be hardcore. I think I was still playing shadowbane when I started paying attention to this game. Excited 5 years ago but couldn't care less now.

That is pretty good actaully, but perhaps EvE has raised the bar in travel time through.

yup, reminds me when our guild would get bored of raid and fill eastern plagueland with a raid group killing everything on sight.

everyone will want to join the bigger side now, I hope you are on that side, or else enjoy the constant harassment.

That was on a boat actually, if i had swam, it would have been 2+ hours while occasionally being harrased by great white sharks...

Except for the fact that when you die in WoW it means little if anything, dying in Darkfall meant losing all your gear , your town that you've been working for and the ability to store stuff in a bank and being able to bind. When our town was taken, i logged in, was wtfpwned in 2 minutes by 40 mad frenchmen and then rezzed at a bindstone a 40 minute walk away. The big difference is now i am stuck with two options, stay in newb area, grind for gold on crappy mobs or risk a 20-40 minute run to new mobs, hoping i do not get ganked and lose all my good loot

Thanks for the warning. That sounds like a game with a complete lack of fun or any redeeming quality whatsoever. I was considering taking a look but now I know that I don't need to bother.

I heard a rumor that many of the game's features were loosely based on the original Asheron's Call (1999 - present).

Having played AC for... 5 years? I can say for sure that if that's the case, the graphics will be sub-par, but the game play will be unparalleled. After I heard the rumor, there were a number of things I read about Darkfall that reminded me of AC - large, seemless landmass in particular.

If AC still had the population it did back in 2000-2003ish, I'd still be playing today.

At lest those who play EvE online will not be deterred by this. The penalty being losing your ship with all it's fittings and all it's cargo if you die, IIRC you also lose skill points depending on the grade of clone you pre-pay for to respawn in. You respawn in space stations equipped with medical bays, these are very limited and even more so in 0.0 (pvp free for all zone with the best of most everything), so if your crop/alliance is lucky enough to control a station near to the fighting you can be back in action with a new ship within minutes, if not then it can be a very long haul through very dangerous space.

DF seems to resemble the penalties in EvE, hopefully it'll also add similar counters (or effective ones) to the risks. Either way DF is shaping up to not PvE friendly.

That EQ1 screenshot is from like, launch day. Technically he's correct in posting it, and it helps him fill his agenda, so just let him be 😛 Nevermind that Luclin added a slew of graphical upgrades.

Risk/Reward, i understand your point, i see people playing WoW , doing the same old things and i can't understand for the life of me where the fun is in that game, same thing for poker, to each his own.

I understand risk/reward. It just seems like the risk outweighs the reward. How many days did it take your guild to build your town? Is your town gone now? Sounds like Shadowbane all over again to me.

As you put it, to each his own.

I agree with KMFJD on this you need to have some risk to keep my attention. Playing Age of Conan was fun for about 2 months until I realized that death had zero consequence. I remember blindly running into battles I knew I would lose just to kill one or two looters to finish a quest quick and easy. Even the rez point was real close to the action. I like the idea of having to do some work for Darkfall it makes everything seem more rewarding; I just fear a bunch of clowns making it a pain to do anything.

TBH, if I play this game it will be with a friend and our main goal will be griefing/ganking. Probably while smack talking.
