This option for hard disks may get very popular over the next few months, eh?

Storing your data on RAID5 logical disks may also be a good idea. It's quite easy to scramble that in short order.

Cheers!
Just have your old VHS tape demagnetizer..

Knock Knock "Police open up"
"Do you have a warrant?"
"Yes"

what if we just use it for porn? 😀

That's something I've always wondered. The porn industry is really the only one making insane amounts of money on the Internet, yet there's SOOOO much porn that's free as well.

How come they aren't bitching because people are sharing their porn without their permission? And why hasn't their industry taken a hit financially because of the large amount of porn being given out for free.

The pron industry doesn't have multi-million dollar lobbyists working on their side....

well i see this backfiring if they try to enact it. Legally they can't selectivly target one or two people out of a list of thousands and "make an example" out of them. That is a form of prejudice.

Nope. Encrypted HDDs and strong magnets lying around the room are good last resorts 😉

Yeah, that plus if you have an IBM GXP drive you won't have to worry either. Itll crap on them before they get it to the offices... 😀

Yeah, but if that were true, police couldn't pull over two people out of a pack of a hundred who were speeding, because it would be 'prejudice', by your definition.

What artists should do is allow people to get 32Kbit mp3's of their songs, and share them on Kazaa. The quality would suck but it would allow you to listen before deciding whether to buy or not, that would be a possibly profitable use of the internet.
What happens if you're in another country to the US? Surely you're fairly safe if they have different laws pertaining to file sharing that are less harsh than in the US, and thus many people will still share songs etc.
