Yep, I will. More for the kids than anything else. Pretty simple though, just icicle lights off the roof and some clear lights around the porch banister and posts.

Always. Lots and lots. Icicles the entire roofline. Nets on the bushes across the whole front of the house. Single strands looped around the perimeter of the island in the front yard. Strands wound up the trunks of trees. A few large decorations with rope lights and lighted door wreaths. Probably some other things I have forgotten. Love the twinkle and shine.

i would love to do it again - except I don't like climbing the ladder on uneven ground about 10 times to go all the way across. And how do people do the 2nd floor? Way too much work.

I have a trick that makes what used to take an hour take about 15 minutes. I lay the string down on the ground below the roof line, I climb the ladder with one end, get on top of the roof and start to clip each light in from the roof, then get back down on the ladder. Only works if I do it in summer before the snow comes though. I try to have it done by October. I take them down the same way, in June when the snow is gone. Lot of people just leave em up. I would if it was not for the fading.

I want to put up a tree this year but I have 2 cats now and something tells me they won't mix well. I will definitely be putting up christmas lights outside though

No, never put lights on the outside of the house other than a couple of topiary Christmas trees at our entryway.

We just moved into a new house earlier this year. While it was still warn I installed cup hooks in the soffit around the house plus two dedicated outlets tied to a programmable switch.
Now I can quickly and easily install my lights from the ground using an extension rod to hang the light on the preinstalled hooks. Just have to climb the ladder to plug them in.
Fast and easy.

Maybe put them up this weekend. We tend to leave ours up until it doesn't feel like Winter anymore. It really has nothing to do with holidays for us, we just like the lights in Winter. Some years, Baby Jesus will have learned to ride a bike by the time we take the lights down.

I choose life. My rooflines are so steep they would never stay put and I'm not in any rush to try and climb up and hang them.

We hang some reefs on the lights on the garage and that's enough for me.

Yeah, I avoid lights on the house. Our roof pitch is VERY steep, and I don't do heights anyway, so....nah.

We did have lights on the house a few years ago, friend of my brother who climbs ladders all day did 'em for some beer. Looked great, but don't think they hang anymore, so no climber now, and I'm not paying a service to do it. LOTS of stuff in the yard, though.

We're thinking about putting up two trees, one in the living room and one in the family room, both decorated completely different.

Yeah. That's what 4 hours of sleep and lack of coffee does to you. Wreaths. :\

Natural or artificial reefs? :sneaky:

I prefer natural reefs personally. They are much prettier. :p
