Does this setup REQUIRE display port on the monitor? If so then forget el-cheapo 22" monitors.

Nope, Kyle already covered that in his review. You can use regular DVI monitors with displayport adapters.

If I can do it with 4 different resolution monitors, then absolutely.

EDIT: Not for gaming, but i'd love to use many monitors with my setup. 2 is getting to be restrictive in studying. If I could hook up all 4 monitors that I have it would save so much time.

Voted - I have no interest

Honestly I can't see the point in have 3 smaller screens vs 1 big screen for gaming. Besides even the smallest seams between my FOV would drive me up a wall.

For gaming I am in the "Want to see how well it works" column. Gonna have to wait for Best Buy to get their demos setup so I can get some first-person views to see whether or not that whole bezel thing will be a deal killer for me or not. Could be nothing and once I start playing it my brain just fuzzes out the bezel space and I become barely cognizant of it while playing.

For work/desktop space, oh yeah, bring on the 6-way LCDs, been waiting a long time for this. Need to find a decent (i.e. functional but inexpensive) LCD stand/rack though as my desk arrangement does not have my LCD's up against a wall. No wall mounts for me.

I hope manufacturers see this and decided to come out with a thin bezel model. That could be quite the hit with enthusiasts.

Says he who has a very nice 30" monitor.

Now, for us guys with cheap 24-28" screens...I'm salivating.

Not for gaming but maybe AVCHD editing in Premiere Pro. To game like that at 3' away is crazy, at 10' mabye... 10' is when the bezels disappear

Same here. I have an interest in it for 2D applications

I dont think I can ever see myself wanting more than the two monitors I have. I rarely even use the 2nd one now. (Mostly a gamer)

Id rather roll my funds into continually upgrading my GPU(S) and CPU.

Things DO change. 23 to 29 now. 44% again.

Back where you belong. 26 vs 52 (33,33%).

This seems to be the norm for a forum like AT.

The way I see it there 're people who will go for it but not for gaming. For them this is simply too good to pass. Some few will bite the bullet and go for it just for gaming but the vast majority will just wait for the next gen of screens/cards before thinking of going for such a setup. Affordable ultra-thin bezel screens and more powerful cards is what is needed for this tech to really take off. Right now it seems that ultra-thin bezel screens are scarce and way too expensive and you may need a second card to get the horsepower necessary to run them in acceptable frame rates. The cost for such a setup is not something that many of us, if any, can justify right now. Power draw, micro-stuttering and driver support are more likely to be the most significant problems with this first generation.

Bezels would be annoying but 6 x quality 1080p Projectors lined up nicely for a seamless image covering an entire wall would be pretty damn sweet.

Yes but you'll need a lot of patience/skills to align them properly and when the time comes for you to change the lamps it will hurt. Besides, the cost for 6 high res projectors is not exactly peanuts and you'll also have to buy a screen and tolerate sub-par black levels.

My problem is, I could easily see myself playing racing games on 3 monitors, but I'd have to buy not one, but two extra 20" monitors. But, I think I'd want to go for 3x 24", but that's going to break the bank a little to much. So when they come out, and I know I can play my games at 3x24 or MAYBE 3x20" with decent framerates, I might jump on it. For me it would be a new impulse to some games. It's going to depend on panel prices too though ...

Not until display port is common. That will lower panel cost considerably and make it where the monitors work better with the technology.

I think I'll be buying a card to give this a shot since softTH can be a biatch to setup up sometimes and I really like triple wide gaming

It's possible. We'll have to see how the new cards do. I already have three 24" monitors, and one card would make things a lot better. I wonder what kind of outputs it will have.
