Are you going for Nvidia 680i and G80 or will it be Ati RD600 and R600

Nvidia 680i and G80 now or Ati RD600 and R600 soon.

So which is it going to be?

Ati will launch there gfx in Jan/Feb 07 and there mb i hear around the 15th Nov

It be good idea to wait for Ati as there wont be many directx10 games for quite awhile.

Trouble is the amazing Resident Evil 4 comes out in Dec and i want a good graphics card to play that. Dont miss this game!

I think I may wait. I just don't have enough time to game to make an 8800 worth it right now and I think it is overkill for the small amount of CS I currently play (and that's all that I play).

I have always said I would wait for RD600 and R600 and though the 8800 looks very tempting (those benches are astounding!) I think waiting is still my best bet.

im going to try out the 8800 gtx and the 680i and see how they are!!! i cant wait...i hate my p5wdh deluxe it drives me nuts

Of course I'll hold off for several reasons:

1. 680i is for Intel CPU's
2. 8800GTX = $700ish
3. I don't have an Intel CPU, nor will I be getting one
4. My wallet doesn't have the funds in it for an 8800GTX
5. I just bought a new PSU, and can't afford to upgrade to one that will support an 8800GTX at this time

The list goes on and on. I'm generally about 2 hardware generations behind.

I think the 680i will have better support than the RD600 because rd is intel chipset in the hands of amd/ati which isnt good prospects.

Just a couple more weeks to hold out to make a better decision.

Yes we all wise and sensible here.

The 8800GTX looks very tempting, but I'm going to hold off because all the good games I'm waiting for are still several months away. 🙁

😕 not really sure how you arrived at your logic there, please explain.

If I hadnt just bought a 50" DLP TV I would be all over the 8800GTX.

I think Nvidia might have just set the bar out of ATI's reach. I hope that's not the case though, or you guys are gonna be disappointed.

8800 GTS now, R600 or 8900 later.

For £325, and after seeing Firing Squads overclocking results of the GTS, how could I resist 😛

Christmas is coming alot are going to crack! People blow money at this time of year regardless against there better sense.

Like i heard from one guy i said to him quad core,g80, 680i and vista are all coming out what are you going to do? He replied i dont care i'm going to take out a loan! lol

It wont be long till we see the 8900X so buying the cheaper 8800GS now is a consideration.

I still need a good directx 9 card. So i waited this long i can wait some more.

@KeithTalent
Amd and Ati have stated that they wont be spending much money to support an Intel motherboard.

Sorry, my bad, I read your original post incorrectly. I see what you are saying now.

@KeithTalent
no worries i reread what i wrote and understand why you thought the way you did.

another consideration is Intel is limiting the dfi fsb to 1066 where as 680i will have 1333

Waiting. The 8800GTX is a freakin monster! Kudos to nvidia for such a huge jump.

However, I'm only playing BF2, CS:S and Dota (WCIII) for the time being so my x1900xtx is plenty for the job. Over the next few months, my xbox 360 is going to get way more work than the PC with Gears of War, Rainbow Six: Vegas and COD3. After I've had my fill of those games, Vista should be out and we can maybe see a few desirable DX10 games. At that point the R600 and the G80 refresh should be fighting head to head. I'll take the winner 🙂

it will take a while 'til i can afford either one..i really hope this works with that job i just got offered 🙂 I am drooling right now...if i had the money i do NOT think i could resist the G80. (And i am a LOOONG time ATI supporter).

POSSIBLE get G80 as soon as i am able to...then wait for R600 and compare specs.

Btw. what new mobo is ATI going to release ?
