The big difference between junk food and cigarettes is that the tobacco companies intentionally made their product more addictive.

<< Next stop is somebody suing their parents for being stupid. >>

Too late. I believe that in france a downs syndrome kid sued their parents for giving birth. Not sure if it was thrown out or not though.

Skoorb did you have to do something special to be a Lifer? some dude in another thread had 17000 post but was only a senior member, is there like a bar exam or something 😉

FYI - people were calling cigarettes cancer sticks at the turn of the century. It has not been news to smokers that smoking is bad for you. Suing the tobacco companies was nothing short of blackmail. Suing the food companies is basically the same thing only more absurd.

Well,

I think it would be cool to see some reform of vending machines and fast food resturaunts. Since I don't eat from either dispenser, I wouldn't mind seeing healthier food at fast food resturaunts and in vending machines. But this isn't the right way to go about it. Fat people suing resturaunts for their own fat isn't right at all. I hope they lose and get couter-sued for genocide of cows via their mouth.

IIRC, the case was more that of a mother suing doctors (via leverage of the child) for missing or inaccurate pre birth diagnostics. I think the doctors lost.

But anyway, I think it's tough to come up with satyrical commentary these days. It just seems that the "real world" has seen something more stupid, more gross or plain and simple more ugly that the poor average 'comedian' can make fun of.

<< Indeed, obesity now rivals smoking in its deadliness and is linked to diseases such as type-2 diabetes, heart disease, and certain types of cancer. >>

Makes almost relieved to be a skinny smoker.
