Yes...I'm now officially an organ donor.

Yesterday I cleaned out my basement and donated a 1970's era Hamond organ to the Salvation Army :)

I heard that you have to still be alive when they take your organs out or they are no use......that kind of freaks me out

yah. donate my blood every 8 weeks too.
I'm going to start donating blood once I'm of legal age

Legal age? What's legal age? I started donating when I was in high school...

At my school we need to be 17 to give it.
Oh, and my parents made if clear if I keel over they're giving me away for spare parts. My aunt died and alot of her organs got used, it was actually sort of theraputic knowing even though she was dead she saved people. For me it made it a little bit easier to cope.

Kinda sorta, depends on the organ, and even then you have to be physically alive but brain dead. Alot of times they will have a team waiting so as soon as the person is declared dead they go in. My aunt was brain dead but the machines kept her body alive, perfect donor in their mind. Because of the way she died there were only certain organs that were usable but they used everything they could.

I'm sort of surprised that more people aren't.

By the way, make CERTAIN that your family knows your wishes. That sticker on your drivers' license means NOTHING if your family members say otherwise.

What he said.

After I die I'd rather someone have the benfit of these Ferengi eyes, heart, or whatever they need.

I've had the pleasure of hearing the story of a recently deceased family's being convinced to donate her organs while I was in my 1.5 week Baylor Hospital ICU many times over... while I was putting my 6 units of donated blood to good use. Kinda puts it all to heart, I gotta figure out how to become a donor...

You'll have to take $ donation from me instead of blood though. Me poked in arm with needle = me fainting within seconds.

NO WAY!

Doctors pull the plug and give up more easily if they know you're a donor, they get greedy and want to farm those organs.

PLus, if I'm ever a vegitable, I want my family to plug me in and NEVER UNHOOK IT!

I said yes, but I'm tainted goods :(

Only got one kidney and that's a messed up one.
My eyes suck.
My liver is not what you'd call "premium".
I've got pretty bad heart murmurs.

I guess my lungs are still okay. Can you dontate those?
