Take my organs, burn me up and do whatever you want with the ashes. Though, I'd like some spread over a couple locations if it's practical for the person who ends up with them. Otherwise, just shove my urn in a closet somewhere and let me RIP. They can remember me through photos and memories.

Absolutely! I'm obviously not going to need them.

All the stories about medical workers triaging you down the line are BS....well most of them anyway.

I used to be, but then the news media and police started referring to motorcycle riders as organ doners in a mocking fashion. The word went out on the web and in motorcycle publications and many took that option off thier drivers license. The mocking stopped but most guys I know never re-established that option.

The rich can go to India, China or Centeral America where people are kidnapped, killed and thier organs stolen :D The poor can just go to hell..as always :p

I am, and don't see myself changing it anytime soon. Besides, if I remember correctly, even the (former) Pope came out in favor of organ donation. Right on.

If you're paranoid about getting less-quality care--which shouldn't happen, considering even if it does go against the doctors' oath, they generally wouldn't know you're a donor until it's time to make the decision--I believe you can just tell your next-of-kin rather than having it put on your license.

I am an organ donor although here it's no on your license... I don't know where it goes actually.

As for when I die, people can take what they want and throw the rest in the ditch... why pay 10000$ to bury me when the same flies and worms can eat me right from the side of the road.

Yep, on my license as well.

I do it because I'd hope that if I ever needed an organ I would be able to receive one, and I hope that if I die someone will benefit from mine.

It's hard to see why someone wouldn't be an organ donor to me though I respect that personal choice.. just doesn't really make much sense to me.

Mostly the same here, except I don't respect other people's choices if I disagree with them. Mostly because I'm an ass.

Oh blah. Emergency workers have been referring to Motorcyclists as orgran donors for as long as organ donation has been around. Frankly, it's a fact of life that motorcyclists are far more likely to die in an accident...and thus have their organs donated.

To take off a truly altruistic option because one's pride has been hurt by the media is lame, imo. I'm glad to hear the enragement has passed for the most part, but believe me, the mocking still happens.

I am a potential donor and I have no preference for what happens to my remains when I am dead. I have told my wife for all I care she can stuff my body in a potato sack and put it out at the curb for the garbage truck to pick up. I have no illusions about my corporeal remains being anything more than minerals and water.

I will allow the harvesting of my appendix should someone else need one. :D

Other than that, I am keeping all my parts.
