Are you a packrat?

I'm packing all my stuff up in preparation for moving. I'm not really a packrat at all; I tend to toss stuff out if I can't concieve of myself using it in the near future. The exception to this apparently is clothes. Now, don't get me wrong, I hate shopping, and I can identify about three articles of clothing that I bought myself. My mom and sister give me most of the stuff, either as hand me downs (or ups, in my sister's case since she's younger) or bought it for me because they thought I'd like it. What I find is that, even though there are pieces of it I rarely wear, I don't seem able to toss it out or give it to Goodwill. I save old t-shirts just in case I need them for a messy workday or something, though I don't know when that would happen.

I have five boxes worth of stuff to bring to goodwill. I move on Saturday so I will probably drop the stuff off to them on Monday.

I took stuff to Goodwill here and they turned me down. 🙁 They sent me to the SPCA junk store instead because they don't take donations in our town.

"If I don't need it, it's gone!"

That's my philosophy. I don't keep something I haven't had a use for in over a few months.

I'm a digital packrat.

That would be a good spinoff thread. I tend to save EVERYTHING on the computer, same as I throw it out in real life, but I like to have it all organized (which it's not right now). I don't save .swfs or stuff like that, but photos I take or emails or things like that, I save compulsively.

I am a packrat. from tons of fabrics from costumes that never got made...to anime figures, and mangas....and toys...I can never throw any of it away..well for one it costed me uber $$$ and secondly I am such a big kid at heart...

If its not being used, I throw it away. My Mom is a packrat, full garage, basement, AND storage unit packed to the ceiling with STUFF, won't get rid of it because she may need it someday.

<--can't stand packrats

Actually my words from a meeting in my office about cleaning out the basement:
"Nothing goes in the dumpster without my prior approval."

In other words, nothing's going into the dumpster? 😛

My brothers are slight packrats.
I'm like my dad. Throwing out stuff at a whim. Though sometimes it ends up being need as the creed of the packrat goes...

If that 486 still works, I'll take it home and do SOMETHING with it 😀

yes because i attach emotions and little stories to almost everything i own so throwing something out is like losing it from part of my life.

la la laaaaa

<-- mental case.

That's why you wait until after they're closed, then leave your stuff! 😀

I used to be a pack rat but now I have a rule......... if I have not used it in 2 years ........... out it goes 😀

Aquaman
