"Nice Guys" are those who let people walk all over them. Do things for others to ensure they are liked or get something in return. They also turn into raging morons when things don't go their way; "I bought Samantha a box of chocolates for her birthday - why doesn't that filthy whore realize what a great guy I am?!"

I buy people shit (tasty cookies, lunch, drinks) but I never expect anything in return - especially friends. I also don't like to trash anyone unless they get on my nerves. I pretty much let people be. And, I do what is right whenever possible (return money dropped on the street).

I'm generally a nice person to everyone, when I was younger probably to the point people walked on me. I learned early on not to let that happen and cut ties with people who burn me, be it family or friends. As I've gotten older and more jaded though, I have less patience for people's negative tendencies and tend to hate humanity. The voices in my head have turned dark and someone built a world domination machine in my basement. The next person who cuts in front of me at the DMV better watch out.

That isn't a definition of "nice guy" I am familiar with.

I have always heard it described as the "beta male" types. Polite, willing to defer, not risk takers, not in your face, play it conservative and safe. Will always seek a non-confrontational route to problem resolution or frame situations toward a happy compromise instead of pointing out the glaring shortcomings of another, etc. The general assumption and operation is others are seeking mutual good and thus, when another party is unwilling, it is determined getting into a pissing match isn't beneficial to the end or group cause. Sometimes this passivity is taken as a lack of assertiveness which can be the case but can also be a diplomatic process.

Thus I can only conclude you are not a nice guy and trying to walk all over "nice guys" because you know they are too polite and have little to gain to correct and interacting with you won't achieve any mutual benefit other that criticism and scorn.

I think what we have here is the deep sting of a victim of a "nice guy" being broken down so far they breached "nice guy protocol" and put Newell in his place

Next time I suggest not "buy people shit". Stick with the cookies and lunch. Even nice guys get a little pissy when someone buys them shit and expects them to appreciate it!
