I've only owned one car so far and it was a 'slightly' used car. My parents had it for a month and didn't like it and I needed a car so, I bought it.

My first car was an 87 corolla that died 2 years ago, now I'm driving an 89 camry and will probably be driving that for another year at least. I just started a new job, and I'm hoping to get a slightly used Scion after I get some scratch saved up.

Used car, NEVER will buy a new car, as it depreciates right off of the lot, used cars have a variable history and no warranty, but the price is generally worth it. I'm still running on my first used car, plan to run her into the sunset!

Not entirely true; my father bought a car that was formerly used as a leased vehicle, a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am with 18,000 miles on it. It was still effectively new. I was still under warranty by Pontiac for 36,000 miles or... 3 years? (can't quite remember the length of time the warranty was good for). There were 2 or 3 problems over the last 2 years that were covered under warranty that were fixed for free (nothing major). It's been working fine ever since the warranty expired under the milage about 6 months ago (no, it's not used much. It hasn't even reached 45,000 miles yet).

If you have any car that's not paid off you have to carry collision insurance. I'd rather not wreck and have liability only /uninsured motorist.

That way, I'd be saving more than just a car payment.

Need an option in the second poll for "Until it dies"

I've had my current card for... 7 years so far. Bought it new at the end of '98. Might have to get a new one because my daughter will be in a car seat that isn't removable soon and since it's a 2-door, it's going to suck. But we might just use the SUV for carting around the kid.

I'd have no problem keeping it until if dies completely.

heck i wouldn't mind a new one, but i've never had a new one 😱

unless you count my wife's car. her old one was such a beater, she deserved a brand new car.

nope - used here. bought my car 5 years ago and it is finally paid off. now i can drive it into the ground as my very own. yay!
